Morrisons Launches A Limited Edition Ham, Egg & Chip Sandwich And We Don't Know How To Feel
Ham, egg and chips is one of the most comforting, wholesome meals in British dinner table tradition. But does it belong in a sandwich?
Certainly, according to Morrisons.
The supermarket has unveiled its Ham, Egg and Chips Sandwich as part of its limited edition range and we can't decide if it's all wrong or will be a lunchtime gamechanger.
On the one hand, why not put a tried-and-tested dinnertime combo in between two slices of bread and serve it for lunch? On the other hand, we're not sure how we feel about refrigerated chips.
We imagine it's kind of like when you come back to your takeaway a few hours after putting it in the fridge, and the chips have the texture of cold fag buts. Never a good idea.
The sandwich - which comes with added tomato chutney and mayonnaise on seeded bread - will be available as part of the £3.50 meal deal, including any main, snack and drink.
Morrisons say they have created the sandwich "for customers who want to enjoy the classic flavours of much-loved British dishes without a trip to the pub."
To create the sandwich, Morrisons combined roasted potato chips with hard boiled free-range eggs and thinly sliced ham. It's then finished off with flame roasted chutney and creamy mayonnaise on seeded white bread.
Rob Gallagher, Food to Go Buyer at Morrisons, said: "Customers told us that they loved the flavours of pub classics and that they were always looking out for more adventurous sandwich fillings and so we have combined them to create our new Ham, Egg and Chips sandwich."
Other items in the limited edition range include Fig & Wensleydale Sandwich, The CLT (Carrot, Lettuce and Tomato Vegan Sandwich), Chicken Dinner Sandwich and Chicken Yorkshire Pudding Wrap.
The ham, egg and chips sandwich is available now until 28th October.
