Shoppers are being urged to check their fridges after several popular supermarket products were urgently recalled over fears they could contain Salmonella.
If you've recently picked up a quick lunch or ready meal from Marks & Spencer or Tesco, you might want to double-check the packaging before tucking in.
Five food products have been recalled from the two major UK supermarkets after concerns were raised about the possible contamination.
The affected items include popular M&S salads and pesto, alongside two ready meals sold exclusively at Tesco.

The recall was issued after Salmonella was identified in pistachio nuts used as an ingredient in the products, prompting food manufacturer Greencore to take precautionary action.
While it's easy to assume a food recall only affects a particular batch, shoppers are being warned to check the use-by dates carefully.

The Food Standards Agency (FSA) has issued an alert advising anyone who has purchased the affected products not to eat them.
Instead, customers can return the items to the supermarket where they were purchased for a full refund, even without a receipt.
Which foods have been recalled?
According to the FSA, five products are affected by the recall, including three sold at Marks & Spencer and two available at Tesco.
The full list of recalled products is as follows:
Marks & Spencer
- M&S Super Nutty Wholefood with a Soy & Ginger Dressing – 200g, all use-by dates up to and including 10 October 2026.
- M&S Nutrient Dense Nutty Super Wholefood – 285g, all use-by dates up to and including 11 October 2026.
- M&S Fresh Collection Pistachio Pesto – 115g, all use-by dates up to and including 13 October 2026.

Tesco
- Pinch Pan Poppin' Chicken Pasanda & Nutty Pilau Rice – 400g, all use-by dates up to and including 10 October 2026.
- Pinch Bangin' Butter Chicken & Nutty Pilau Rice – 400g, all use-by dates up to and including 10 October 2026.
M&S has since addressed the situation, explaining that the products were being recalled as a precaution.
"In an abundance of caution, Greencore is recalling some pistachio products due to the possible presence of Salmonella," the retailer said.
"Customer safety is of paramount importance to Marks & Spencer and we take food safety extremely seriously."
The supermarket also urged customers not to consume the affected products, while confirming refunds would be available.

What are the symptoms of Salmonella?
Salmonella is a type of bacteria that can cause food poisoning, with infections commonly linked to contaminated food.
According to the NHS, symptoms can include diarrhoea, stomach cramps, nausea, vomiting and a high temperature.
Symptoms often begin within a few hours or days of consuming contaminated food, although they can occasionally take longer to appear.
Most people recover without specific treatment, but the infection can be more serious for young children, older people and those with weakened immune systems.
The FSA has also issued advice to anyone who develops symptoms.
"If you are experiencing these symptoms, you should stay away from work, school or nursery until you have stopped having symptoms for at least 48 hours to avoid passing it on to others," the agency explained.
Anyone experiencing severe symptoms or signs of dehydration should seek medical advice.
In the meantime, shoppers are being encouraged to check their fridges and avoid eating any of the affected products, regardless of whether they appear safe.
Both retailers have apologised for the inconvenience caused by the recall.
No other products have been identified as affected in these particular recall notices.
