McDonald’s fans are reeling after the fast-food chain confirmed its Monopoly promotion will not return in 2026.
The promotion has been a fixture at McDonald’s restaurants across the UK since it first launched in 2005. It gave customers the chance to win prizes by peeling off and collecting special game stickers from selected menu items.
Over the years, the promotion became a staple of the McDonald’s calendar, with foodies buying their favourite items and collecting the stickers in the hope of landing a winning combination and taking home a prize. Sure, some may have ended up lost in your pockets or the bottom of your bag but they have customers a chance to win really impressive prizes.
To play McDonald's Monopoly, customers collected stickers from food packaging, featuring train stations or colour-coordinated road names, similar to those found in classic Monopoly board game.

Maccies customers had to collect multiple stickers and complete property sets, similar to the real game, to give them the chance to win a range of exciting prizes.
The promotion ran in the UK for the last time from September 10 to October 21, 2025. However, customers had no idea at the time that it would be the final edition.
Prizes ranged from free food and drinks to expensive gadgets, holidays and huge cash prizes.

Last year’s prizes included £100,000 in cash, a £2,000 Jet2 holiday, an LG OLED TV and a Merlin Annual Pass for four.
Customers could also win popular McDonald’s menu items, including Big Macs, Quarter Pounders, McFlurries, milkshakes and apple pies.
Fans who had been looking forward to the game’s return this year have now been dealt a shocking blow.
With September here, many customers had been waiting to find out when the popular promotion would return. But McDonald’s has now confirmed that Monopoly will not feature in its UK promotions this year.
A McDonald’s spokesperson told Tyla: "We know how much our customers love our promotions, from the brand-new launch of CARDS in March, to our first-ever XBOX partnership as part of the Side Missions launch.
"We're always looking for new ways to surprise and delight our customers, and while Monopoly won't feature in 2026, we'll continue listening closely to what they enjoy most as we shape future promotions."
In 2020, the McDonald's Monopoly promotion was due to run in the UK from the middle of March, but it was postponed due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

The news of Monopoly not returning in 2026 comes as McDonald’s has already been making some big changes to its UK menu.
Back in November, fans were left unhappy after the fast-food giant confirmed it was axing one of its popular Happy Meal options. The Fish Finger Happy Meal was removed from the menu to make way for two new additions, the McFish and Mayo Chicken Burger.
The changes also saw Fish Bites, which had been introduced at select restaurants in 2024, disappear from the menu.
While McDonald’s said it was excited to bring the new options to customers, the decision didn’t go down particularly well with some parents. Several took to social media to complain about the removal of the Fish Finger Happy Meal, with some saying it was one of the only options their children would eat.
One parent said their daughter “only likes Fish Finger Happy Meal”, while another said their child would not eat anything in burger form.
It means McDonald’s fans have had plenty of menu changes to contend with, and now Monopoly fans have another disappointment to add to the list.
With the much-loved promotion officially sitting out 2026, customers will have to wait and see what McDonald’s has planned next.
