Children Barred From Little Girl's Birthday Party After Refusing To Dye Their Hair

Children Barred From Little Girl's Birthday Party After Refusing To Dye Their Hair

'She saw my post and asked what right I had to steal her daughter's moment from her'.

Two girls, aged 10 and 11, were barred from attending their friend's birthday party after their mum refused to dye their hair 'a natural colour'.

Posting to Reddit, the outspoken mum stated that the girls' hair were both 'purple', but the mum of the birthday girl thought the colour would 'draw attention' away from her daughter.

The post has divided users' opinions, with most agreeing that 'this isn't a feel-good petty revenge story'.

Anonymous user Ho776JB began the post by clarifying that she'd been dyeing her daughters' hair since with 'safe' solution since they were both six years old. They 'love' their purple hair, and didn't fancy sporting a 'normal' colour.

The girls were recently invited to a friend's joint 'birthday/Halloween' party, but could only accept the invitation on the condition that their mum dye their hair a more 'natural' colour.

When the poster questioned the birthday girl's mum on her harsh requirements, she seemingly said that she didn't want the girls to 'steal [her daughter's] moment from her', especially when it came to birthday photos.

The Reddit poster retorted, instead holding her own Halloween bash for her girls and their other friends. The party sounded like a resounding success, with 'cake, bounce house, candy piñata and all that cool jazz'. According to their mum, the girls had a 'blast'.

After deciding to 'post a few pictures online', the original birthday girl's mum confronted the poster.

She questioned 'what right' she had to draw attention away from her daughter. The girls' classmate was 'upset' that she couldn't come to the party, despite the fact that her party had a 'pony, assorted teas catered and a wagon ride as well'.

Reddit users argued the one who really lost out was the birthday girl. [

Commenters on the post were divided, with some arguing that the mum of the birthday girl seemed 'controlling and weird'. People also came to the poster's defence, stating that "OP [original poster] did nothing wrong'.

Others, however, felt sorry for the birthday girl after she got 'caught in the crossfire' of the feuding mums. "Eh. This isn't a feel good revenge story," one user said.
