On 2 May, Kate attended the inaugural King’s Trust Gala in New York City and posed for pictures on the red carpet.

However, her look has sparked backlash as fans have accused her of secretly going under the knife.

Setting the record straight on her physical appearance, Kate took to Instagram on Sunday (May 5), and posted two videos of herself.

The clips were taken 20 years apart and were accompanied by a lengthy statement.

Explaining the the side-by-side comparison videos, the mother-of-one wrote to her 5.6 million followers: “I hate talking about this because I hate adding to this conversation but I’m doing it because insidious bullying of any kind over time takes a toll.

“These videos might be 20 years apart - maybe more.

“Every time I post anything - and by the way, this has been the case since I was about 30 - I am accused of having had unrecognisable surgery / using Botox using fillers / being obsessed with looking younger, and it’s really such a tiresome and subtly vicious way to bully a person.”

Kate went on to clarify that she has never gone ‘to the trouble’ of employing a plastic surgeon.

She also said that she hasn’t ever worried about looking older.

Kate went on: “Life happens - obviously I have aged, everybody ages; I’m not too concerned about ageing because I found my father dead at the age of 5, I spent most of my teenage years and a good deal of my 20s absolutely crippled with severe anxiety and panic attacks that I was going to die of a heart attack too.

“[I] went to emergency rooms often and was almost, at that time of my life, completely immobilised by that anxiety.”

The Pearl Harbor actor said she is routinely picked on for her age-defying appearance and claimed that her admittance would probably have ‘no effect’ on trolls.

She added: “It isn’t going to stop. But I’m also posting it because whatever someone looks like, accusing them constantly of things they haven’t done, or being obsessed with youth when actually, currently I’m obsessed with surviving loss, is bullying. Please stop now.”

Following the heartbreaking post, many famous faces have flocked to Kate’s defence.

Modern Family star Sofía Vergara typed: “Gorgeous always.”

Nikki Osborne said: “People just need to accept you’re just hot.”

“Gorgeous,” echoed Paris Hilton.

In a follow-up Instagram post, Kate thanked fans and friends for their unwavering support.

“I am so touched and feel so horrible for everybody who has told me about their experiences of bullying,” she wrote.

In the comments section, one fan said: “GOAT. Protect this woman at all costs!”

While a second added: “You’re the best!”
