Kim Kardashian endured being held at gunpoint by police during her chaotic period when married to Kanye West, a Keeping Up with the Kardashians producer has said.
In the new authorised biography Citizen Kim: The Woman Who Created the Future, author Jonathan Van Meter writes about the experiences of E! producer Farnaz Farjam who ‘first realized how bad things were for the couple’ during a trip to Uganda in 2018, reports People.
Farjam told the author, Kim and Kanye were taking part in a shoot at a far-removed location in Uganda when Kanye became highly concerned and distressed.
“He basically got the local police to believe that there were people trying to drug him and so they came and they had guns out. He had them raid everybody’s rooms,’” states the biography.

Van Meter writes that as part of the alleged raid: “One of the policemen had a gun to Kim’s head.”
Farjam told Van Meter the experience was ‘intense’ and she ‘ended up having to get a private jet and get my crew out of there.’
Van Meter writes, the producer “forgave Kanye for the Africa fiasco ‘because he lives with bipolar disorder and he was in a manic place.’”
Kanye suffered a brain injury during a car accident in 2002 and was diagnosed by bipolar disorder. In 2023 he told the Wall Street Journal neurological damage because of the accident was ‘unnoticed’ until 2023.

Kim’s biography details her relationship with Kanye in intimate terms, including incidents from the past but also her feelings about him today.
The biography says, “I worry about him all day. That’s the father of my kids. I’ll never not worry about him.”
Kardashian told the author about Kanye, “And that’s a big burden of having kids with someone who you don’t necessarily get along with. My kids would never know that.”
“I do everything in my power to forget about all the negative things that happened. I have to be realistic, and my therapist definitely tells me, ‘Your boundaries have to go up,’ but we manage to co-parent without too much conflict.”
Kim states in the book that it was difficult to share parental responsibility with ‘someone who comes by every few months.’

She explained how she manages challenging discussions: “I’m always like, ‘Oh, Dad’s traveling.’ I still make up stories and protect [the kids] because I want them to think their dad is the greatest. But I invite him over all the time. ‘Do you want to come to dinner? I’ll leave the house. Come and have dinner with the kids in their house so that they can feel comfy. Sleep over for a few nights?’”
“I will sweep everything under the rug, all the horrible things he has said about me, so that the kids can see their father,” she added.
Despite Kim’s willingness, according to Van Meter, to allow Kanye to take part in the book, the author decided it would not be ‘ethical’ in light of Kanye’s previous mental health struggles.
