The Buffy star says she doesn't want her kids to be child stars like her

Sarah Michelle Gellar says she won't let her daughter get into show business until she's 18.

The former Buffy The Vampire Slayer star has been in the entertainment industry for virtually her entire life.

Starting out as a child actor and making her first TV appearance in a Burger King advert, the 45-year-old was one of the biggest stars on the planet.

However, despite her success, Gellar says that she wouldn't want her 13-year-old daughter to get into acting before she was ready.

Speaking to The Hollywood Reporter, the mum-of-two said that the fact she and husband Freddie Prinze Jr are so famous changes things.

"Does it scare the s*** out of me?" she asked. "Well, we have rules in place. She can't be in front of a camera until she graduates high school.

"She says to me, 'That’s unfair. You were a child actor'. Yes, I was. But I was not the child of two famous parents."

Gellar went on: "I’ll never stop her from being on a set," she told the outlet. "But she’s just not going on camera while she’s living under our roof.

"There’ll be different expectations for her, so she needs to learn everything there is first."

So I guess we'll have to wait and see what path the teen decides to take once she's finished her exams.

Her dad, however, enjoyed a bit of a renaissance recently, when he starred in a Christmas rom-com last month.

Christmas With You landed on Netflix over the festive period, and fans were over the moon with the level of cheese on display.

Freddie Prinze Jr. recently returned to the screen after a five-year hiatus.

The synopsis for the film reads: “Feeling career burnout, pop star Angelina escapes to grant a young fan's wish in small town New York, where she not only finds the inspiration to revitalize her career but also a shot at true love."

Played by Aimee Garcia, the musician is feeling pressure to come up with the latest festive song.

So, in a bid to feel more connected to her listeners, Angelina vows to meet her biggest fan, Cristina (played by Deja Monique Cruz).

Cristina also hopes to help her father (Prinze Jr.) to head back into the dating world after previously not striking much luck.

Prinze Jr, who is known for his roles in I Know What You Did Last Summer (1997) and She’s All That (1999), said in a recent interview that he was ‘nervous’ to return to the movie scene since his five-year hiatus.

He told Tudum about returning to his acting career in Christmas With You: “As nervous as I was getting back into making movies, I couldn’t have picked a more lovely film or a more perfect group to work with.

“They made me love this business again.”
