Annie - who goes by the name of @anniedeliversmd on TikTok - explained the dangers of using panty liners every day.

Panty liners are often used for absorb everyday vaginal discharge, urine leakage or spotting.

Annie regularly shares videos where she answers common questions from followers. In one, she explained that sometimes, women think they have vaginal irritation, but it's often not the cause of an infection but a result of using panty liners too often.

She added that in these cases, women often have a 'defined line around the vulva' - a tell tale sign, according to Annie, who added that prolonged every day use can cause contact dermatitis.

Many women wear liners to avoid the uncomfortable feeling of discharge, but Annie recommended "carrying a ziploc bag with you in your purse.

"When you feel discharge change your underwear. But don't wear those liners anymore. Your vulvar skin does not like them."

Others were quick to comment on the video, with one writing: "I just started wearing liners 24/7 about 3 months ago. The same time I started having major irritation. I thought it was something else. Thank you."

And another said: "I bought SCENTED pads once and it gave me this. It was so uncomfortable. I used only fragrance free now and have had no issues."

Meanwhile others suggested using cloth liners while others said period underwear is a good alternative.

One wrote: "I started using cloth liners when I had an issue with persistent spotting and couldn't go without."

While another said: "Or try period underwear! I use knix even when I’m not on my period. Helps absorb sweat and discharge."

And a third added: "Cloth pads or a minicup during ovulation are a great option too."

And a fourth said: "This is the type of thing reusable cloth pads would be good for, no?"
