There is barely a soul who wasn't hooked on the events of Tiger King over lockdown.

Joe Exotic burst onto our Netflix screens in March 2020, and captivated 64 million households in its first four weeks, with tonnes of "cool cats and kittens" following the antics at the G.W Zoo, and the murder-for-hire plot against Carole Baskin.

We thought the series was all over after Joe Exotic was convicted of 17 charges of animal abuse and two counts of murder for hire, and was later sentenced to 22 years in prison.

But it turns out there's more to come in the Tiger King saga...

It will feature seven episodes, just like season one.

That means the mayhem and madness really is just around the corner...

What will happen in Tiger King 2?

The second instalment of Tiger King is set to give us an update on the lives of some of the most infamous characters from season one, with director Rebecca Chaiklin teasing rather cryptically about the "story that's still unfolding".

For one, G.W. Zoo in in Wynnewood, Oklahoma, is no longer open; most of the staff have moved on and Joe Exotic has since been diagnosed with prostate cancer in jail, where he remains after missing out on a pardon from Donald Trump before he left office.

Speaking to Entertainment Daily, Chaiklin also promised: "It'll be just as dramatic and just as colorful as what has unfolded these past few years."

As dramatic as season one? Now this we have to see...

The second instalment will also show us some of the "crazy amount of footage" leftover from season one.

Fellow director, Eric Goode said: “There are a lot of questions that people would like answered, and we will see if we can answer those.

"We do have a ton of footage. We did film [more] after we locked picture. We did film the sentencing [of Joe Exotic] and John [Finlay] with his new teeth.”

Who has been cast in Tiger King 2 and who is working on the show?

Netflix has not yet announced the cast of Tiger King 2, but we can guarantee one person won't be there...

Carole Baskin has announced that directors approached her and her husband Howard about joining the second season, adding that she declined the offer, because she is still upset about questions raised over her involvement in Don Lewis' death back in season one.

"It was so obvious that I had been betrayed by them," Carole told Radio Times. "Why would she ever think that I would be willing to speak to them again? And so I told her to just lose my number."

As for Joe Exotic... there hasn't been any official confirmation of his involvement, but a poster for the series does appear to show the former zoo owner on a jail phone.

Plus, his husband Dillon Passage has teased his participation.

What we do know at this early stage is that directors of the first series, Eric Goode and Rebecca Chaiklin, are back for season 2, with the two also acting as executive producers alongside Chris Smith and Fisher Stevens.

We'll update you once we know more concrete information about the casting.

Is there a Tiger King 2 trailer?

What happened in season one of Tiger King?

Tiger King: Murder, Mayhem and Madness told the story of Joseph Maldonado-Passage - aka Joe Exotic - a mulleted, gun-toting, polygamist and prolific big cat breeder who ran a zoo in Oklahoma.

Told through a mix of archival and new footage, we learnt about the big cat subculture in America and its key players, focusing on the eccentric Maldonado-Passage who became somewhat of a local celebrity, even unsuccessfully running for state governor and President of the United States.

But dark plots were bubbling under the surface.

Maldonado-Passage was sentenced to 22 years in prison for two murder-for-hire plots against his longtime critic and rival, animal rights activist and fellow big cat park owner, Carole Baskin, as well as multiple wildlife violations.

It is the events that lead up to this - and the countless conspiracies and twists that pervade the big cat world - that are explored in the bizarre Netflix documentary.

Anyone else super excited for season two?!
