A particularly unsettling detail about Travis Scott's Astroworld concert where 10 people, including a nine-year-old child, died has left people outraged.

On 5 November 2021, during the rapper's headline set at Astroworld Festival in Houston, eight of the 10 fatalies died at the concert, while the remaining two died in the hospital as a result of their injuries, with hundreds also left injured following the deadly crowd surge.

The 10 individuals who tragically lost their lives in the disaster, whose ages range from nine to 27, include; Axel Acosta, Mirza Danish Baig, Rodolfo "Rudy" Peña, Madison Dubiski, Franco Patiño, Jacob Jurinek, John Hilgert, Bharti Shahan, Brianna Rodriguez and Ezra Blount.

The Harris County medical examiner's office declared the cause of death to be compressive asphyxiation, while the manner of death was ruled an accident.

There has since been a renewed interest in the horrifying case following the release of a brand-new Netflix doc, Trainwreck: The Astroworld Tragedy, which was released last week (10 June), and delves into what happened at the disastrous event.

The harrowing story is told through footage shot by festival-goers, 911 calls, and interviews with survivors and families of victims. But one detail in particular has stood out to viewers and left people 'disgusted' - namely that they felt neither Scott nor Live Nation, the company which organised the festival, faced enough repercussions.

One X user penned: "Watching the Astroworld doc on Netflix and being reminded that nobody involved in it faced any consequences has me ill. Travis still getting chances to headline festivals like Coachella is even wilder to me."

"I just f**king watched that Astroworld documentary on Netflix and the fact that Travis Scott AND Live Nation got away with it unscathed is absolutely disgusting. Travis grossing $210 million with his tour last year that was produced by Live Nation says everything u need to know," hit out a second.

A third chimed in: "The Astroworld documentary on Netflix about the deaths from 2021 at the Travis Scott event is so so sad to watch. It makes me so mad that Live Nation was not held responsible for this when they knew people were DYING. #AstroWorld."

"That Astroworld documentary is one of the hardest things I've watched on Netflix," confessed a fourth. "A completely avoidable tragedy which saw Live Nation neglect to take responsibility for or action to prevent a disaster they knew was coming, and Travis Scott choose to keep his promoters."

A fifth chimed in: "Watching the Astroworld doc on Netflix… and man…. I cannot imagine the horror of being unable to breathe, watching people fall stiff around you and hearing endless screams & Travis Scott abusing autotune in the background. To keep the show going?! This s**t’s incomprehensible."

"The Astroworld Documentary on Netflix was DEVASTATING. A perfect example of the horrors of late stage capitalism. The attendees and families of those lost deserve justice. Travis Scott, his team and Live Nation deserve jail time #Astroworld," slammed another.

While another echoed: "That Astroworld documentary on Netflix is actually so hard to watch. There was so much negligence and no one was held accountable."

Scott, who has denied any knowledge of seeing the crowd surge while performing, posted on X the day after the concert took place.

The rapper, who faced a number of lawsuits following the disaster, wrote at the time: "I’m absolutely devastated by what took place last night. My prayers go out to the families and all those impacted by what happened at Astroworld Festival. Houston PD has my total support as they continue to look into the tragic loss of life."

He later took to his Instagram Stories to claim that he was unaware of the 'severity of the situation'.

"I just want to send out prayers to the ones that was lost last night. We're actually working right now to identify the families to assist them through this tough time," he said.

"My fans really mean the world to me, and I always want to leave them with a positive experience."

Live Nation, which also faced a number of lawsuits, likewise posted a statement to social media at the time: "Heartbroken for those lost and impacted at Astroworld last night. We will continue working to provide as much information and assistance as possible to the local authorities as they investigate the situation."

Both Scott and festival organisers were investigated for possible criminal negligence or reckless endangerment.

In June 2023, a Texas grand jury declined to indict Scott or other organisers, so no criminal charges were filed.

Tyla has previously reached out to Live Nation for further comment.

Trainwreck: The Astroworld Tragedy, is currently available to stream on Netflix.
