Jeff Bezos and Lauren Sánchez's $50 million wedding has sparked utter outrage online, leaving people to make a particularly disturbing movie comparison.
The 61-year-old Amazon CEO, whose net worth is a shocking £226.7 billion, and 55-year-old journalist Sánchez announced their engagement in the summer of 2023.
And, sparing no expense, the pair threw a star-studded party on Bezos' yacht on the Amalfi Coast in Italy and it's clear they'll be following suit location-wise for their big day, as they are now set to tie the knot at a three-day wedding in Venice.

The guest list of approximately 200 includes politicians, international royalty and Hollywood A-listers including the likes of Kim, Kris and Khloé Kardashian, as well as Kendall and Kylie Jenner and Oprah Winfrey.

Much to the protest of locals, who have put up 'NO SPACE FOR BEZOS' posters across the city, the billionaire couple arrived in the floating city on Tuesday (24 June) for the celebration which kicked off on Thursday (26 June) and is set to continue on until Saturday (28 June).
But, after catching light of the first snaps from the multi-day affair, let's just say that it didn't take long for people to rush to social media to share their thoughts on the whole thing.

Many people called out the sheer expense of the wedding, pointing to better ways in which the fortune sum of money could have been spent.

"Feed a country or throw a wedding?" quipped one Instagram user.
A second questioned: "How many children could be fed with all this money?"

"Money doesn’t buy class," slammed a third while a fourth echoed: "How out of touch these people are. Absolutely shameful. Read the room!"
Many also couldn't help but notice a similarity between Lauren's ensemble and, well, a lampshade - a similar fate which Ariana Grande endured at the Oscars back in March.
"Lauren's dress looking like a lamp shade," jabbed a fifth while a sixth piped up: "That's where my curtain went!"

"Looks ridiculous," echoed a seventh.
Others took their criticism one step further, drawing parallels between the luxury wedding and all the pomp and grandeur seen in The Hunger Games' Capitol - famed for its opulent displays of wealth.
"Are they filming a new Hunger Games? Is this the Capitol?" questioned an eighth.
Another chimed in: "This looks like a Hunger Games movie!"

And a final Instagram user declared: "Cartoon characters. Best way I know to describe them."
