Seth Rogen reveals there’s a video of him from years ago that would immediately end his career

The Hollywood actor is even offering to 'buy' the controversial audition tape from whoever has it

In the era of cancel culture, a forgotten video or social media post that should have never seen the light of day can be a celebrity’s, and their PR agent's, worst nightmare.

And now Seth Rogen has admitted that, somewhere out there in the world, there is an audition tape that he genuinely believes would ‘end his career’.

Whether fessing up that the clip exists was a smart move or not is another question entirely, as I’m sure every internet sleuth will now be making it their mission to find it.

But, what could be so damning that one of Hollywood’s biggest stars is calling for it to be burnt or sold to him? Well, now we know.

The actor, 43, made the admission himself and went into the details during an appearance on Jimmy Kimmel Live! on Thursday (19 June).

Rogen explained that he auditioned for a role in the 2003 rom-com Gigli, which starred Ben Affleck and Jennifer Lopez.

In the movie, which didn’t go down too well with both critics and audiences, Affleck played Larry Gigli - a hitman who was hired to kidnap the ‘cognitively disabled’ brother of a powerful prosecutor.

Meanwhile, JLo took on the role of Ricki, an assassin, who was sent to oversee the job.

And yep, if you haven’t guessed it already, Rogen auditioned for the part of the brother, which ultimately went to Justin Bartha.

The topic arose when Kimmel asked Rogen about the last movie he auditioned for, which the actor admitted was a ‘long time ago.’

He said: “Thank god it was mostly physical VHS tapes and stuff like that that was being used when I was auditioning for things, because the things I auditioned for, in retrospect, if they were out there in the world, they would end my career very, very fast, I believe.”

When asked to elaborate he revealed that he auditioned for Gigli and the tape is still somewhere out there.

Rogen admitted: “I auditioned for this boy with a cognitive disability. And I don’t think the script was written in what, by today’s standards, would be the most sensitive portrayal of a boy with a cognitive disability.”

He continued: “I also as a young actor, I didn't get a lot of auditions and the movie was directed by Martin Breast who did Beverley Hills Cop and Midnight Run - a great director so I wanted to leave an impression."

Rogen went on to say he was ‘tempted to do an impression of what he did’ but couldn't because ‘that’s how bad it was.’

He admitted: “I don’t think I wore a helmet into the audition itself, but it was at play.

“It’s so bad I dare not even portray what I did in this audition because I went for it. I saw myself at the Oscars. I'm like, this is the clip, this is the scene."

“And truthfully if that tape was out in the world today this would be the last interview you ever saw me do other than like my apology.”

He then joked that if anyone does have it, he wants it to be destroyed immediately.

“Please if you have it, burn it. Sell it to me, I will buy it,” he told viewers and the audience.

Thankfully for Rogen, he dodged a bullet with the movie, which according to the Independent grossed just over $7m against its $75.6m budget.

This made it one of the most expensive box office bombs in history - and for now, as long as that video never pops up, it looks like Rogen’s is safe.
