It’s December, which can only mean one thing – it’s a socially acceptable time to watch Home Alone again.
But as people have settled down to rewatch the 1990 Christmas classic, some people have spotted a major ‘spoiler’ that had previously passed them by as kids.
Yep, there are people out there that didn’t know that the ‘cop’ that visits the house at the start of the film is actually one of the robbers that Kevin McCallister runs rings around.

If you haven’t quite clocked, the short and hot-headed thief, Harry (played by Joe Pesci), had previously disguised himself as a policeman to get a good look around the house.
While some of us were clued up on this small detail, others have only just started to realise this was the case.
Taking to social media, one fan wrote: “Uhmmmmm why am I just now finding out the cop in Home Alone is also THE ROBBER?”

A second wrote: “How old were you when you found out the cop in the beginning of home alone is the robber? Cause I found out about two minutes ago.”
“Just found out the cop in home alone was just a ruse for the robber… screaming, crying, throwing up,” said a bemused third person.
“Watching Home Alone for the 50th time and I’ve never noticed that in the starting scene when the cop comes to check on the house, that cop is also the robber from later on. Who knew?” a fourth said, adding a shrugging emoji for good use.
Other people were otherwise stunned that Home Alone fans hadn’t quite clocked this fairly obvious detail in the film.

“Sorry but if you didn't know this you brain is as much use as a chocolate fireguard,” one person savagely wrote.
“I thought everyone knew this!” gasped a second. “He was scoping the place out!”
“What???? How can anyone not know this?? That’s the whole point!!!!” said a third.

Guess people don’t watch Home Alone as often as we do…
