Calling every person who's ever been hurt, betrayed or left heartbroken by an ex - this zoo is offering the chance to name a snake after your ex for Valentine's Day.

Yep, the day of love will soon be upon us, and while for some it's a day of gushy Instagram posts and chocolates and flowers, for those of us who've experienced heartbreak it can taste a little more bitter.

Well, this zoo in Australia has the perfect answer for scorned lovers by offering the chance to name a snake after your venomous ex.

All you have to do is fill out a form for Wild Life Sydney Zoo explaining why your ex is the ultimate snake, and the zoo will decide who will slither to the top of the snaky leaderboard.

To be specific, you have to briefly explain why your ex deserves to be the name of a brown snake, which is one of the world's most venomous snakes.

Then you just need to provide the zoo with your ex's name before making a small donation of $1 to the Wild Life Conservation Fund, which is a pretty genius fundraising tactic if we do say. Bravo, Sydney Zoo.

The winner will not only get to tell the world their ex is the namesake of one of the most venomous snakes in the world, they also get a certificate and the opportunity to visit the snake for free every day for the next year - although we'd probably avoid so not to bring all those awful memories back.

So, we ask anyone who's ever been scorned - what've you got to lose? If you've got a super slimy snaky ex who deserves to be shamed, then apply here now.

Entry closes on 13th February so the zoo can consider all applications, before announcing the winner on Valentine's Day.
