A British woman is ‘fighting for her life in Dubai after experiencing a heartbreaking pregnancy loss.

Zoey Campbell-Lowndes, a teacher from Manchester, was 30 weeks pregnant when she and her partner Kevin got the devastating news that their baby boy had passed away.

A fundraiser created this week by Zoey’s family, which has raised more than £110,000 at the time of writing, explains that she had to ‘undergo a C-section to deliver her precious baby boy, despite being considered extremely high-risk herself’.

It reads: “What should have been a time of excitement and preparation for welcoming her little boy into the world has instead become an unimaginable tragedy.”

The tragic ordeal didn’t end there, as following the loss of her baby and her C-section, Zoey’s health has deteriorated significantly, and she has been ‘fighting for her life’ in hospital in Dubai.

The fundraiser explains that she has spent three days in intensive care (ICU) and is currently in an induced coma as doctors work tirelessly to treat her.

Her liver and kidneys are failing; she has suffered two episodes of internal bleeding, and she has required blood transfusions and dialysis, with her condition remaining ‘extremely serious’.

The fundraiser continues: “While our family is trying to come to terms with the heartbreaking loss of Zoey’s baby boy, we are also facing the terrifying reality of not knowing what will happen next.

“All we want is for Zoey to receive the medical care she desperately needs and to have every possible chance of recovery.”

The family heartbreakingly also explained that they’ve been ‘faced with an overwhelming financial burden’.

“Zoey had birth plan insurance, and we believed this would provide protection if something went wrong. However, we have since discovered that the policy covers the baby but does not cover medical emergencies involving the mother,” they wrote, outlining that the medical treatment costs have already exceeded £100,000.

Zoey's family added: “Her surgeries, blood transfusions, dialysis and ongoing intensive care are all incredibly expensive, with further costs continuing to arise as she receives the treatment she desperately needs.

“We never imagined finding ourselves in this position. Our family is grieving the loss of a precious little boy while desperately hoping and praying that Zoey will pull through.

“Having to worry about the cost of medical treatment on top of such an unimaginable loss is something no family should ever have to face.”

The fundraiser has been set up to ask for help in easing some of the financial pressure, allowing the family to focus on Zoey, her treatment, and her recovery during an ‘incredibly difficult time’.

It concluded: “We never imagined we would have to ask for help like this, but right now, we are holding on to hope for Zoey. We want to give her every possible chance to recover and come home to the people who love her.”
