Mirror, mirror on the wall - what do you know about the upcoming live-action remake of Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs?

Turns out we know a bit actually, and that's why we're going to break it all down for you here and now.

The original Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs film was released in December 1937 as the very first feature length Disney animated film.

Its success paved the way for future classics including Sleeping Beauty, Mulan and 2013's behemoth franchise Frozen.

Like many of the Disney films that followed, Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs was based on the 1812 German fairy tale "Snow White" by the Brothers Grimm.

All About The Production

The remake will include both original tunes from the 1989 animated film, as well as including new songs from Benj Pasek and Justin Paul, the Tony Award and Oscar-winning duo behind La La Land, The Greatest Showman and Dear Evan Hansen.

The live-action flick will be directed by Marc Webb who also directed the rom-com 500 Days of Summer and the two Spider-Man films starring Andrew Garfield.

Production is set to begin in 2022. No release date has been announced.

Who Is Playing Snow White?

The iconic role will be played by Rachel Zegler, who is pretty much a newcomer. She made her big screen debut as Maria in the remake of West Side Story to much acclaim.

Upon landing the role in June, Rachel posted a series of tweets and even a short video of her meeting Snow White at Disneyland.

"Homegirl we have LOTS to catch up on," she wrote in the Tweet accompanying the video.

Speaking to Deadline about Zegler's casting, Webb said that her "extraordinary vocal abilities are just the beginning of her gifts.

"... Her strength, intelligence and optimism will become an integral part of rediscovering the joy in this classic Disney fairytale."

What praise!

Who Is Playing the Evil Queen?

It was announced in November that Gal Gadot was stepping into the villainous Evil Queen's shoes.

When she was asked about the film, the Red Notice actress told Variety she was "so excited" to take on the iconic part.

She teased: "There is so much that I cannot share with you. But the take on this story is so different and delightful and full of joy.

"... I'm very, very excited. I wish I could share more."

We can't wait for this!
