Princess Eugenie welcomes baby boy and reveals his very unique name

She has paid tribute to a number of family members with his unique name

Princess Eugenie has announced the birth of her baby boy, having paid tribute to a number of family members with his name.

Eugenie, 33, and husband Jack Brooksbank hav welcomed a boy - their second after eldest son August was born in February 2021 - on 30 May, saying he weighed 7.1lbs.

Posting the happy news on Instagram with a couple of snaps, the royal said they had decided to name him after three family members.

One well-wisher commented: "Congratulations Eugenie. Your heavenly grandma Lilibet and grandpa Philip would have been so proud and thrilled after hearing the news of the arrival of another great-grandchild."

Another said: "Just gorgeous. Many many congratulations to you all."

Eugenie said her baby boy was named after three generations of men from her family.

She wrote: "Jack and I wanted to share the news that we had our little boy, Ernest George Ronnie Brooksbank on 30th May 2023 at 8.49 weighing 7.1lbs.

"He is named after his great great great Grandfather George, his Grandpa George and my Grandpa Ronald.

"Augie is loving being a big brother already."

The couple announced they were expecting a second child in January this year, with Eugenie sharing a sweet snap of her with August, who can be seen cuddling into her bump.

"We’re so excited to share that there will be a new addition to our family this summer," she wrote.

A statement from Buckingham Palace also confirmed the exciting news.

Princess Eugenie and Mr Jack Brooksbank are pleased to announce they are expecting their second child this summer," the announcement said.

“The family are delighted and August is very much looking forward to being a big brother.”

The couple first met in 2010 when Eugenie - the daughter of Prince Andrew, Duke of York, and Sarah, Duchess of York - was 20 and Jack was 24.

He had been working as a barman when their paths crossed at the ski resort of Verbier in Switzerland.

After dating for a year, Jack joined Eugenie for their first official public appearance together at the Royal Ascot in 2011.

They tied the knot in October 2018, surrounded by celebrities and royalty at St George's Chapel at Windsor Castle.

They went on to become parents in 2021 when they welcomed first son August.

At the time, Eugenie said: "We wanted to introduce you to August Philip Hawke Brooksbank.

"⁣⁣Thank you for so many wonderful messages. Our hearts are full of love for this little human, words can't express. We are excited to be able to share these photos with you.⁣⁣"

She added: "[Photos] by our wonderful midwife. Thank you to the wonderful essential workers including our midwife who came to discharge our boy."

Buckingham Palace confirmed that Eugenie 'was safely delivered of a son today, 9th February 2021, at 0855hrs at The Portland Hospital,' adding: "Jack Brooksbank was present."
