Marmite lovers, this is not a drill. Marks & Spencer have launched an exclusive new treat today in collaboration with the iconic store cupboard staple - squishy, cheesy and marmite-y hot cross buns.
Hot cross buns are usually sweet, spiced and made with fruit, and are traditionally eaten on Good Friday in the UK. The fresh new M&S iteration are made with mature cheddar, red Leicester and Marmite encased in a dough which has been enriched with butter and free range egg to make it extra soft and fluffy. They also have the recognisable cross on top.
Some Marmite fans might be tempted slather even more of their favourite food spread in-between their hot cross bun slices. Or you can toast your hot cross bun for added flavour and texture, and spread butter on top. The possibilities are endless.

Last spring, M&S and Marmite launched their first foodie hybrids - creamy Marmite butter and Marmite cream cheese, followed more recently by Marmite Cheese Slices and Mini Marmite Cheesy Crumpets for Christmas.
The Marmite cheese slices in particular proved to be a huge hit. Available in packs of 6 slices, and encased in packaging emblazoned with the Marmite logo.
The combo has the unmistakeable savoury tang of Marmite with a robust and mature cheddar cheese, the slices bring together two fan-favourite foods. Costing £2.75 per pack, Marks & Spencer's Marmite Cheese Slices are available in store now.
