A disabled dog has been left down on her luck after her wheelchair was stolen in a car theft.

Cocker Spaniel Violet had been recovering from a major spine trauma, that left her unable to use her rear legs, when her walking aid was stolen while in her foster owner's car.

Brave Violet was rescued from a shelter in 2017 by Camp Cocker Rescue - who specialise in saving the breed - having been found with her bum covered in callouses and burns after dragging herself around for six months after a spine trauma.

With physiotherapy and help from the carers, the incredible pup began to learn to use her back legs again, gaining strength to walk.

However, she still requires a wheelchair for long distances.

Violet had struggled to find an adopter as she required round-the-clock care, but she eventually found a home when she became part of the charity's Forever Foster Home Program, where the charity sponsor her expenses for life.

Sadly, Violet's new foster mum's car was stolen along with all of her dog's supplies - including the wheelchair, special boots, car set and backpack.

Now, Camp Cocker Rescue are pleading for any help they can to replace all of Violet's belongings.

"Violet is one of the 'perfectly imperfect' doggies that Camp Cocker Rescue saved from the Baldwin Park/Los Angeles county animal shelter, but she never found an adopter. She was up for adoption for a long time in 2017 but because of her round the clock nursing care that she needs, it was a challenge to get her adopted," the charity wrote on Facebook.

"We got super DUPER lucky to have found Violet a permanent foster home and Violet became a part of our Forever Foster Home Program."

The added: "Violet's foster mom's car was stolen a few days ago, along with ALL of Violet's supplies! Her wheelchair, special boots, car seat, backpack, etc. EVERYTHING Violet needs for her daily routine, so that she can continue to live a happy life."

The shelter has ordered Violet a new wheelchair as a first priority, but are asking people to donate directly to Violet's expenses, which you can do here.

You can also order Violet notecards, which feature "Violet spreading her messages of positivity around the world" here.

Good luck, Violet!
