Fans of teen drama Outer Banks, we have good news: Netflix has just given the green light for a second season.

Yesssss!

The streamer confirmed the news on Friday, tweeting simply: "Outer Banks has been renewed for Season 2!"

*Spoilers for Outer Banks Season 1 ahead.*

For anyone who doesn't know, the drama focuses on best friends John B (Chase Stokes), JJ (Rudy Pankow), Pope (Jonathan Daviss), and Kiara (Madison Bailey) - a group of youngsters known as the 'Pogues' who live on the Outer Banks - a beach holiday destination in North Carolina.

Having landed on the platform in April this year, the 10-episode series follows the teens after a hurricane kills the town's power and sets off a series of events that lead to the group making some life changing choices.

Season 1 ends on a huge cliffhanger with John B fleeing the police after being framed for murder. Along with Sarah, he makes his escape via boat - which ends up capsizing in a tropical storm.

Everyone presumes they are dead, but the pair manage to survive after being rescued by another boat. They then make it their mission to head to the Bahamas to take back the wreckage - and the gold.

News of a confirmed second season might not come as all that surprising news to fans after creator and executive producer Jonas Pate revealed in May that him and his team of writers had been working on season 2 scripts already.

Speaking to Entertainment Weekly at the time, Jonas said: "Ever since we started, we always viewed it as something that was probably like a four-season, maybe five-season show, but definitely four seasons.

"We've sort of long-arced it out pretty far. I'm just hoping that we get a chance to actually tell those stories.

"Before [Season 1] even came out, Netflix had green-lit us to write some [Season 2] scripts, so we've been working on that for a few months now."

We are SO ready for this.
