Practical Magic 2 is almost here: How to save money on UK cinema tickets

It's been 28 years since the release of Practical Magic (1998), and fans of the iconic cult classic will be delighted to know that the sequel is set to arrive in cinemas this September.

Serving up a perfect blend of nineties nostalgia, cosy autumn vibes and midnight margaritas, Practical Magic 2 will see Gillian Owens (Nicole Kidman) and Sally Owens (Sandra Bullock) reunite in an attempt to break the spell that has prevented their bloodline from finding true love for centuries.

Although the duo have reprised the roles in the new film, Susanne Bier has taken over from Griffin Dunne as director behind the scenes.

The sequel will also welcome new cast members including Maisie Williams and Joey King, who are set to play the next generation of the beloved Owens family.

When does Practical Magic 2 come out?

Practical Magic 2 is set to release in UK cinemas on Friday, September 11.

Those in the US can look forward to a release date of September 10 or September 11 in cinemas.

International release starts around Wednesday, September 9.

What is Practical Magic 2 about?

Practical Magic 2 is centred around the story of the Owens Sisters as they work to break the curse that has haunted their bloodline for generations - as every romantic partner they have dies.

The plot follows a new generation of Owens women, as they embark on a journey to uncover hidden secrets and finally end the spell that stands between them and true love.

Are Sandra Bullock and Nicole Kidman in Practical Magic 2?

Yes, Bullock and Kidman will be returning to reprise their roles as Sally and Gillian Owens in Practical Magic 2.

Stockard Channing and Dianne Wiest are also making a return for the sequel, portraying the franchise's eccentric aunts.

However, many of the original cast members were reportedly not asked to return for the fantasy sequel, such as Aidan Quinn and Evan Rachel Wood.

Wood told Entertainment Tonight in an interview, “I read the book, and it seems like they’re not following the book. I think, in the book, it would have made sense to bring me back."

The actress went on to wish new members of the cast well, including Joey King, who has been recast in her original role.

As well as King, actors such as Lee Pace, Maisie Williams and Xolo Maridueña will be joining as new additions to the Practical Magic 2 cast.
