Netflix has just added popular alien flick Dark Skies, and people are already saying it's leaving them with "full body goosebumps".

The horror film actually landed in 2013, but is now available to watch on streaming platform - and it sounds like it's not one to miss if you're in the mood for a scare.

Following Lacy (Keri Russell ) and Daniel Barrett (Josh Hamilton) as they go about their lives in the suburbs with their two sons, the movie shows things turn upside down as a mysterious presence starts to rear its head.

When the family discover that it is possible aliens are after them, Daniel and Lacy are forced to muster all the courage they can to fight, and do all they can to keep their kids safe.

Dark Skies also stars Oscar winning actor J.K Simmons, who stars as alien expert Edwin Pollard, who helps the family to understand what - or who - they're up against.

As you'd expect, the film isn't on for long before things get a little creepy.

And judging by the online reaction, this isn't one for the feint hearted, as the spooky scenes don't disappoint...

"Alien/abduction stories usually don't spook me but Dark Skies was lowkey terrifying," wrote one viewer after watching the flick.

While another agreed: "Seen that dark skies was on Netflix and I IMMEDIATELY got chills don't know what it is exactly about that movie that freaks me out so much."

"I watched Dark Skies on Netflix. I was positive it was gonna be TERRIBLE, but it was actually multiple full body goosebumps scary," a third agreed.

"And it wasn't even about zombies."

Producer Jason Blum - who founded Blumhouse Productions, which specialises in horror movies - urged his fans to watch the movie, writing on Twitter: "Underrated @Blumhouse film Dark Skies now on @Netflix. Got terrible release back 2013.

"Hoping many will watch now. @robotproof wrung a lot of pathos & all time great scare out of deceptively simple scenario. And JK Simmons shot 1 day - weeks later he was on our short Whiplash."

You heard the man. Dark Skies is available on Netflix now.
