Singletons are being invited to come clean to their crushes for a brand new dating show.

Titled Secret Crush, the new ITV series will see those who have fostered feelings from afar to reveal their hidden passion while on a date.

Each episode will see four secret admirers come out of the shadows to declare their true feelings - be it for their colleague, their best friend or their gym buddy.

The other person will be told before filming that someone in their life secretly likes them but won't find out who it is until the moment they walk into the date. Honest revelations, shocked faces, tears of relief, and potential new relationships could all be in store (as well as a few broken hearts, we imagine).

Speaking about the new show, ITV's Head of Digital Channels and Acquisitions, Paul Mortimer said: "ITV2's audience will hopefully be enthralled by this wonderful format that propels potential relationships to a must-watch crunch point.

"As stories unfold and viewers eavesdrop on heart-felt conversations, they'll witness laughter (and maybe some tears) but, crucially, the blossoming of new love in each episode."

Executive producer Tom O'Brien added: "We can't wait to get producing Secret Crush for the team at ITV2. It's full of heart-in-your-hands confessions, humour, and unbelievable stories, all to the flutter of Cupid's tiny wings."

We're in desperate need for more dating shows, after the coronavirus pandemic put Love Island on hold until summer 2021 at the very earliest.

Both the summer 2020 editions of the ITV2 dating show, and the newly introduced winter version of the reality TV hit were cancelled after the spread of Covid-19 lead to ongoing travel restrictions.

Host Laura Whitmore has boasted the show has had "more applications than ever."

"I really missed not having Love Island in lockdown - I've been watching the old series' because I really needed to not watch the news," she told Tyla. "They're so naughty! Hopefully we will be in a better situation next year."
