From sleeping on your side and limiting alcohol to wearing nasal strips, we've heard of a whole bunch of methods that help stop snoring. However one teen has taken things to a whole new level by licking his girlfriend in the night to get her to be quiet. And apparently it works wonders!

Jason Lee and Sharnie Bright-Penny have been together seven months, but were driving each other crazy thanks to sleepless nights caused by snoring and sleep-talking. When getting his girlfriend to roll over and stop snoring continually failed - he even tried Chandler from Friends hug and roll technique - 22-year-old Jason thought he would try licking her face in a last-ditch attempt at catching some rest.

As you do.

More fool us though, as apparently Sharnie rolled over away from him in her sleep and was quiet, meaning he could finally get some zzzzs, and he saysthe strange technique has been working like magic ever since.

19-year-old Sharnie had no idea her boyfriend had been licking her as she slept, instead dismissing her wet face as due to dribbling. But the truth came out when she was sleeping over at a friend's house and was kept awake by her pal talking in her sleep - it was then that Jason texted admitting his own unusual method of getting her to be quiet.

Jason, from Maryport in West Cumbria, said: "Her snoring sounds like a deep growl. I was determined to find something that shuts her up. She had rolled over several times in her sleep snoring in my ear.

"I rolled her over and she rolled back onto me and carried on snoring in my ear. When that didn't work, I decided to try a hug and roll. I then decided to try blowing in her face, and then as a last resort I just licked her face and it worked. I laughed because it was so stupid but I'm pretty happy I found a solution.

"I've been doing it about a week. Usually her snoring wakes me up so I try and get back to sleep but the snoring keeps me up as it's right in my ear."

The couple both admit they have a bad habit for talking in their sleep, with Sharnie once shouting for the cat and Jason ironically asking Sharnie to stop touching his tongue. However Sharnie has her own trick up her sleeve, and admits she tickles the back of his knees to get him to be quiet.

She said: "I hadn't suspected anything. I've woken up with a wet face but I've always thought that was me dribbling while I was asleep, but obviously it was not. He claims he had tried everything to get me to shut up but nothing had worked and it just got to the point where he had tried everything and licking my face was the only thing that worked.

"Honestly I find it hilarious. The fact that he was that fed up with my snoring and constant cuddles and that was the only way to make me stop. I honestly haven't heard of it before - this is a first. I normally just hear about people pushing their partner away. I just couldn't stop laughing.

"I asked him if he was going to keep doing it and his reply to that question was 'no comment', so I'm guessing he will.

If it helps him get some sleep, we can't see the harm in that!
