Instead, Jared, 26, posed at the waterfall at Elkhorn Creek near Frankfort, Kentucky, US, where Kelsey wanted the original shoot.

The hilarious pictures, which quickly went viral, show Jared posing in the waterfall with his shirt unbuttoned as he stands fully clothed in the river and lovingly cradles his exposed belly.

The geologist's assistant said: "She started crying [when she saw the pictures] - it brought tears to her eyes and made her happy.

"I wanted to make her laugh a little bit - I knew she would appreciate the shoot because she needed a good laugh.

"She'd been in the hospital for the past week and had been miserable. She's very photogenic and loves to take pictures and wasn't able to," he added.

"I never in a million years would have imagined they would have went viral like they did - it was kind of unreal to me.

"It took us all by surprise - we were just trying to do something nice for my wife and then all the positive reaction that came from it was pretty cool."

Building plan reviewer Kelsey said Jared is the type of person who will do anything to make somebody laugh and said she couldn't believe he had taken the time to plan out the shoot.

Kelsey, who welcomed baby Kash six weeks early, shared: "It was just completely unexpected and it made me laugh and brought tears to my eyes. I really appreciated the thought that went into it."

Professional wedding photographer Kiana, 22, said she had a hard time editing the photos because she was laughing so much.

The mum-of-one, who also lives in Frankfort with her husband, said Jared was familiar with maternity shoots as he'd seen her do them before, so whenever he tried his own looks and poses she would just encourage him.

Kiana said: "During the shoot I was dying - it was so funny. I laughed the entire time. Every time I asked him to do something he did it perfectly. If he was trying his own little looks I would just make him more excited.

"I've never come across a guy being willing to be so dramatic. Jared's always been really goofy. He's always had that personality and he's always willing to do anything.

"My husband, who's his best friend, was there too and cracking up, and I felt like the more we laughed the more Jared got into it."

Kiana's Facebook post has racked up more than 44,000 shares and 14,000 comments since she posted it last week.
