TikTok user and nanny who posts using the handle The Enchanted Nanny has uploaded a video showing an ingenious hack to help calm a newborn baby if they are experiencing digestive discomfort.

In the video, the nanny demonstrates on a real newborn how to ease discomfort by explaining the gentle movements she uses to ensure milk does not 'cement' in the baby's stomach.

She does so by holding the baby's torso and gently moving it in a figure eight pattern. "It's a bit like kneading dough," she says.

"What you see an awful lot of is people polishing their babies tummies which does absolutely nothing," she says as she gently caresses the baby's stomach with the palm of her hand as she shows her followers what not to do.

"If tummies don't have movement then the milk gets a chance to sit and move slowly though there. And then it can cement and produce wind in their tummies, and that then becomes painful.

"If you can help to move the milk around, it's going to help."
