The Reason Why McDonald's Has Changed Its Logo

The Reason Why McDonald's Has Changed Its Logo

People have been wondering why McDonald's logo looks so different these days and now we finally have an answer!

If you follow McDonald's on TikTok, you may have noticed that the huge fast food chain has had a little makeover.

Apart from the delicious fries and array of burgers, the Mcdonald's logo, also known as the 'golden arches', is one of the most recognisable images in the world.

And one TikToker was asked by McDonald's to give their iconic letter M on a red background a revamp - and the end result is hilarious.

McDonald's asked Emily to redesign their logo (

Emily Zugay, a TikToker and a college graduate with a degree in design, posted a video in August where she "put her degree to good use" by redesigning improving logos for companies including Starbucks and Apple.

The McDonald's TikTok account spotted her ironic redesigns and asked her in the comments section to give a fresh spin on their golden arches.

Watch the hilarious video below:

The McDonald’s account wrote: “I need a new logo plz graphic design is my passion.”

Like all of Emily’s redesigns, she begins by giving her funny takes on the existing logo. “The last victim is McDonald’s.

"I don’t think you meant for your logo to be suggestive but right now this [golden arches] look like knees to me.

"I don’t wanna be thinking about knees when I’m eating my McChicken.”

She then reveals the new and improved, Emily Zugay-endorsed logo, with a large golden ‘O’ taking centre stage. Emily also decided to remove the ‘n’ thus changing the name of the entire food franchise to ‘McDoalds’.

She explained the inspiration behind her masterpiece in the video, adding: “Instead of emphasising the ‘M’ I put emphasis on the ‘O’ instead. And I was thinking this would be a really nice campaign to get some onion rings to pair nicely with your new logo.”

McDonald’s seems to approve of the new logo and the name change as they have showcased Emily’s creation on TikTok, Facebook and Twitter.

Mcdonald’s, or shall we say McdOalds, responded in the comments section of the video on TikTok, writing: “thOnk yOu amOng Os”.

A tweet on the restaurant’s Twitter account reads: “Hi welcome to mcdOalds.”
