Brooklyn and Victoria Beckham’s public feud sparks bizarre trend

Brooklyn, 26, seemingly broke the internet following his bombshell claims shared to Instagram on Monday (19 January)

The Beckham family feud has been dominating the headlines for days now, with celebrities and fans alike weighing in on the drama.

And now, it's even sparked a bizarre social media trend, with restaurants, bars and brands using it as an opportunity to cash in on the celebrity tea.

The eldest Beckham son, 26-year-old Brooklyn, sent shockwaves through the UK and the world on Monday (19 January) when he took aim at his parents with a series of bombshell accusations.

They ranged from wedding dress speculation to his and his wife Nicola Peltz's first dance drama dating back to 2022 and, of course, the alleged 'Brand Beckham' backlash.

"Unfortunately, my parents and their team have continued to go to the press, leaving me with no choice but to speak for myself and tell the truth about only some of the lies that have been printed," he claimed, adding that he doesn't want to reconcile with his family.

"I'm not being controlled, I'm standing up for myself for the first time in my life," Brooklyn added.

And, as we say, the latest update in the pop culture phenomenon has seen several businesses try to 'cash in' on the family drama and use it to promote none other than their Mother's Day offerings months ahead of the special day.

The format goes something like this: a business will upload an AI-generated or Photoshopped image of Brooklyn and his mum, Victoria, smiling happily, along with a caption which not-too-subtly jabs at the mother-son fall-out and promises customers they can, instead, enjoy a 'drama-free' Mother's Day come March 15th.

One Facebook post from Wigan pub Euxton Mills reads: "MOTHER’S DAY AT EUXTON MILLS… DRAMA FREE!

"Unfortunately, we can’t promise the Beckhams will be back to enjoy another Mother’s Day together… but we can promise: no feuds, no headlines, just great food and happy mums."

Referring to Brooklyn's 'inappropriate' dancing claims about Victoria during his wedding, another Instagram post for Cancello Bar & Restaurant in Newton-le-Willows similarly quips: "It’s never too early to book for Mother’s Day…we can’t guarantee there won’t be dancing!"

And it's not just Mother's Day promotions, as well-known big brands like Yorkshire Tea have also followed suit to hop on the trend.

In an Instagram post, the tea company copied Brooklyn's text post format and issued a tongue-in-cheek statement captioned 'Time to break our silence' slamming 'teaspoons' and 'standing up and choosing a life that is not controlled by spoons'.

While we're sure such posts may raise eyebrows for some critics online, possibly pointing out issues in cashing in on, let's face it, quite an upsetting situation for a real-life family, it's clear that fans of the businesses loved the marketing approach and rushed in to share their gushing praise.

"A* for advertising guys," wrote one fan, while a second commended: "Good one! Love it lol."

A third chimed: "The marketing. LOVE THIS."

"OK, this is amazing!" beamed a fourth and a final social media user echoed: "Love it!"

"Our Mother’s Day post - AI image of Victoria and Brooklyn Beckham included - was just a bit of pub banter, taken in good humour as intended, and tied into a relevant media story. Of course, they haven’t actually been here, but they’re always welcome to visit and sample our top-notch Sunday roast dinners - we know from social media that David likes to think he’s a good chef!" Euxton Mills landlord Chris Maughan told Tyla.

Tyla has also reached out to Cancello Bar & Restaurant for comment.

LADbible Group has previously reached out to David and Victoria Beckham's representatives for comment on Brooklyn's initial claims.
