Starbucks responds to backlash from furious fans over viral ‘Bearista’ cup as strict rule introduced

The craze of the limited-edition 'Bearista' collectable item doesn't seem to be dying down anytime soon

The hype is far from dying down, even months after Starbucks released the 'Bearista' cup in the US.

And, as of today (15 January), Brits are also now able to get their paws on the glass cup which is in the shape of, you guessed it, a bear.

The 'Bearista' sports a green beanie hat as well as a drink and a straw in the signature Starbucks colours.

The coffeehouse chain announced the exciting news on social media, but it was quickly followed by an avalanche of outrage over the 'limited stock' after the one very strict rule of one cup per customer was announced.

The Facebook announcement, posted earlier this week (12 January), reads: "This is not a drill... see you 15.01. T&C's apply. One Bearista Cup per customer only. While stocks last."

So, if you were keen to scoop up one for all of your friends and family, unfortunately, that won't be possible, as you will only be allowed to purchase one.

The post has since racked up over 8.3k reactions and 4.4k comments, at the time of writing, from Starbucks fans who were left seemingly in bits and furious over not being able to nab themselves the highly coveted collectable item due to the 'limited stock'.

Many shared their experiences about trying their hardest to wake up bright and early before rushing over to their nearest home of the beloved Frappuccino - only to find they had already sold out.

One Facebook user fumed: "Queued up for opening at my nearest Starbucks this morning at the crack of dawn to be told they're out of stock already when they only just opened!!!"

A second added: "My six-year-old has wanted one of these since released in the States! We have waited since opening to get her one, only to be told they are sold out."

A third piped up: "Can’t fathom how two stores, which I was the first customer in, had already sold out."

"My local drive-through opened at 7 a.m I was there at 7:02 (I was the only person there), and they said they’d sold out," claimed a fourth, as a fifth as another lamented: "One per customer or one per store! Daughter arrived at our store as it opened this morning. 3rd person in the queue - 1 cup. What’s the actual point!"

And a final Facebook user echoed: "Same thing happened to me, I was third in line, and they only had 2!"

A Starbucks spokesperson has since responded to the backlash, telling Tyla: "We're delighted that people have been so enthusiastic about the Bearista Cold Cup. This was a limited drop and some locations have sold out quickly. We implemented a one-per customer rule to keep it as fair as possible."
