A bridesmaid was told she was uninvited to the wedding after she missed the bride's hen do to look after her baby.

The bridesmaid, who is a single mum to a 16-month-old, had to pull out of the hen after plans changed to a weekend away.

Explaining that she couldn't leave her child overnight, she told the bride she was no longer able to make the whole of the hen celebrations.

"As part of the bridal party, I was invited to the bachelorette party," she wrote on Reddit.

"Originally the plan was to have a sleepover at another bridesmaid's house nearby, so I said I could come over for a bit, but not stay the night, because I can't be away from my baby yet overnight."

The woman said she hadn't spoken to the bride, who she refers to as 'Jen', since she said she couldn't make the hen.

She then decided to reach out to her to ask about the details for the wedding day.

But she was devastated to then receive a text from the groom telling her she was no longer in the wedding party or invited to the nuptials.

"Last week I reached out to see if there was a general itinerary for the wedding weekend (rehearsal, hair & makeup I've paid for, etc), but didn't get a response until today," she explained.

"Her husband texted me to let me know that Jen is mad at me about the bachelorette party and doesn't want me at the wedding anymore because she thinks I don't care about her.

"I'm absolutely heartbroken, but I feel like so much of this is stress is related to this wedding and the last few years in general. It's not the friend I know."

The post sparked a debate on Reddit with some users questioning whether they were getting the whole story and others saying the bride was overreacting.

One comment said, "That bride isn't grown up enough to be getting married."

Another added, "Unfortunately you have outgrown this friendship."

But a third wrote, "Kind of get the vibe we're not getting the full story".
