Everything You Need To Know About 'The Hills' Reboot

The iconic series is making a return to MTV later this year. Here's everything you need to know ahead of it airing.

If Natasha Bedingfield's 'Unwritten' brings back nostalgia of Lauren Conrad cruising through L.A. to meet her besties for brunch to discuss what went down at Les Deux the night before, then you were probably buzzing over the news that The Hills was getting the reboot treatment.

The cast (well, most of them) are reuniting for a new series set to air later this year, and here at Pretty52 HQ we can't wait. So, here's everything you need to know ahead of The Hills: New Beginnings dropping.

Who's signed up to the reboot?

OG The Hills stars Audrina Patridge, Whitney Port, Stephanie Pratt, Justin Bobby (homeboy who wore combat boots to the beach), Brody Jenner, Jason Wahler and Frankie Delegado are all set to appear. Of course, ultimate reality villains Spencer and Heidi Pratt will be back, along with their little boy, Gunner.

Some of the cast will also be joined with their respective partners as well as their own children.

There is one member who might be unfamiliar to The Hills fans though - Mischa Barton. Mischa appeared in The OC, and while it wasn't exactly reality TV, it was said that the programme inspired The Hills in the first place.

"It's weird because I remember going out with Nicole Richie and people at the time, and we would come by set when they were filming The Hills," Mischa told Cosmopolitan while doing press with Audrina, Whitney and Heidi ahead of the series.

She continued: "She would drag me to the producer van to see what you guys had been up to all day. All these years later...it sounds corny, but it felt like this was supposed to happen."

But what about Lauren and Kristin?

Lauren 'LC' Conrad took on the role of leading lady, teaching us everything we need to know about friendship, relationships and how to cry a single mascara tear. However, she hasn't signed up to the new series, along with 'frenemy' Kristin Cavallari.

As Whitney puts it best during their interview with Cosmopolitan: "They're not part of the story line."

The women are said to have totally different reasons for not signing up though.

Lauren is said to be in a different place in her life with her lifestyle brand, but does wish her former co-stars 'the best'.

Meanwhile, Kristin is currently starring in her own reality show, Very Cavallari, meaning she has contractual obligations to E!. Her TV show with husband and professional American football player, Jay Cutler, is in its second season already.

While LC hasn't directly commented on reboot, Kristen has a serious case of FOMO. She told US Weekly: "I wish I could be part of it, I really do, and so it's just one of those things. I wish I could make a little cameo or something!"

Most importantly, did Heidi and Lauren ever make up?

Despite the series ending over eight years ago, fans have still been genuinely invested in Heidi and Lauren's friendship. The pair's relationship began unravelling as Heidi started seeing now-husband Spencer, with Lauren accusing the pair of spreading sex tape rumours.

But it seems like time isn't the ultimate healer as Heidi revealed that they never became friends again.

"Sometimes things happen that will change how you feel about people, and sometimes it's very permanent," Heidi told Cosmo. She then added: "I thought with Lauren and me, we would've been friends again," with the article noting that she seemed, "sad resigned and a little surprised".

Forgive and forget, right?

When will it air?

The Hills: New Beginnings was originally slated to air in April, but the release date has been pushed back to summer for now.

Filming for the reunion show is said to have started last August.

What channel will it air on?

Just like the original series and its spin-offs, the reboot will be airing on MTV.

Brody will be appearing with his wife, Kaitlynn Carter.
