All eyes are on convicted killer Steven Avery and his family members as we continue to get updates about Steven Avery and the case, made famous by the Netflix documentary Making a Murderer.

A bombshell revelation by Kathleen Zellner, Avery's lawyer, turned the attention on Bobby Dassey, Avery's nephew, after a new witness statement placed him at the scene of the crime.

Bobby Dassey has tried over the years to have a quiet life with his wife and young son, but it looks as though this could become increasingly difficult to maintain.

But besides Avery and Brendan Dassey, who are serving time in prison, the family members who have felt the most pressure from the case being so public are Avery's parents, Dolores and Allan Avery.

After appearing in both seasons of Making a Murderer, one question everybody wants answers to is -- where are Steven Avery's parents are now?

Are Steven Avery's parents still alive?

While Avery's father is alive and well into his 80s, sadly his mother Dolores passed away at 6:50am on 8th July, 2021.

The news was announced by Avery's lawyer, Kathleen Zellner, on Twitter.

During the first season of Making a Murderer, viewers saw Avery's parents putting every dollar they had towards their son's legal fees. In 2016, Netflix reported that they'd sold the family business to help pay for Steven's legal team.

The two have had to deal with the backlash from their local community after their son was incarcerated for murder and see neighbours no longer want anything to do with them. But despite this, they continue to support Steven.

Netflix said in 2016 that the case has "taken an immeasurable toll" on Dolores and Allan. Allan would likely appear in season 3 of Making a Murderer, assuming it gets made and his health allows him to do so.

Throughout season 2, both parents were seen visiting Steven in the correctional facility in Manitowoc. Dolores, in particular, has always been very vocal about her belief that Steven Avery is innocent.

During an interview in season 2, Allan Avery said: "My greatest worry is that me and Mama don't pass away before Stevie gets out."
