Picture this: you've had a long day, you're cosied up on the sofa and you're sitting there with your piping-hot dinner on your lap, ready to wash away the stresses of the day with a good old-fashioned Netflix and chill - no, not that kind.

However, you find yourself getting more and more riled up for every extra second you spend aimlessly flicking through a bunch of TV and film titles you've either: A) Watched already, B) Have no interest in whatsoever or C) Are so old it's practically a history documentary.

If that sounds at all familiar, do not fret, as you're clearly not alone because there is actually a whole load of people out there who similarly claim there's 'nothing good' to watch on Netflix anymore.

However, if you fall into such a category, you're in for quite the brutal reality check when it comes to your tastes on the world's biggest streaming platform...

Many Netflix critics aren't shy in taking to social media to share their frustrations with the supposed lack of choice when it comes to its current titles.

One Reddit user lamented: "Netflix feels so empty now.

"I don't know what happened but I haven't had Netflix in like 3 months and the first thing I notice is it feels like there isn't as much to watch anymore. I go through the horror movie category and it seems really short. Did they get rid of everything?

"Basically all that's left is just Netflix originals which I do enjoy but I've watched probably all of their horror movies and their recent originals aren't that great."

A second chimed in: "Too many teen shows."

A third chirped: "And sh*t reality shows and I thought I liked sh*tty reality shows!"

And a fourth piped up: "All the shows that I really want to watch are on other platforms. I ordered Disney+ then added Hulu. I have Netflix and Amazon Prime but most nights I can’t find anything to watch."

While many agreed with the original poster's qualms with the popular streamer, a fair amount pointed out that there is plenty of cracking viewing material on Netflix - so long as you're happy watching something subtitled or dubbed.

"I think there's a huge segment of people out there who refuse to watch anything requiring subtitles," declared one critic.

"I'll watch subtitled shows," explained a second. "Most foreign shows (so, non-US) are high quality with concise storylines that aren't dragged out for multiple seasons. Perfect. However, the problem I have is when I just want to watch and enjoy, not read and watch. With fast-paced shows requiring a viewer to notice small, important details, it can be hard to follow.

"So you end up having to rewind and it takes twice as long to watch."

Someone else penned: "I've never understood it. Why would people limit themselves? 80% of what I watch are international shows. Far more consistent than what the US is putting out."

Another defended: "Same I thought I was an anomaly, because there are still a lot of shows that are on my watchlist. And there are still shows coming out that I enjoy."

And a final Reddit user echoed: "I don't know your primary language, but there are many wonderful shows and movies in non-English languages. They have a large catalogue of non-English media which I highly suggest."
