For more than two decades, October 3rd has been celebrated by many as 'Mean Girls Day', but in 2025, that's all set to change.

The date earned a place in everyone's diary thanks to a scene in the iconic 2004 film.

Lindsay Lohan's character Cady Heron is delighted in the movie when her crush, Aaron Samuels, played by Jonathan Bennett, asks her what day it is.

She happily replies, "It's October 3rd.”

Ever since then, fans have celebrated Mean Girls Day by wearing pink, sharing memes, and watching the film.

As of this year though, a new fandom has claimed the date as their own thanks to some major news which came out this week, and people are wondering if it was deliberate or a happy coincidence.

Titled The Life Of A Showgirl, it's set to be released on Mean Girl Day, October 3, and Swifties are very excited to say the least. The new album has 12 tracks and features a 'reimagined version' of George Michael’s song Father Figure, as per the Daily Mail.

Not only that, but the record will also have a collaboration with Sabrina Carpenter, who previously opened the show for Taylor on tour.

Some fans think the release date was a deliberate choice.

“He asked me what day is Taylor dropping her album? October 3rd, I said (or however that scene in the original Mean Girls goes idk)," joked one.

Another added: Not TayBae releasing her next album on Mean Girls Day. This woman is after my heart.”

"Taylor’s album on mean girls day. there is something truly serendipitous about this," said a third.

Someone else made another connection to the date too: "Oct 3 is now mean girls day, day of Anna wedding in Freakier Friday, now Taylor Swift day."

During the podcast episode, Swift revealed: “This album is about what was going on behind the scenes in my inner life during this tour, which was so exuberant and electric and vibrant."

Unlike her most recent album, The Tortured Poets Department, Swift says this one is more 'joyful'.

"I’m so proud of it. And it comes from the most infectiously joyful, wild, dramatic place I was in in my life, so that effervescence has come through on this record. So as you said, bangers.”

She added: “I tend to love to write lots and lots of music, so it’s a temptation to release lots of music.

"But I wanted to do an album that was so focused on quality and the theme and everything fitting together like a perfect puzzle that these 12 songs for my twelfth album – I feel we achieved that," she explained.

Fans are very excited, to say the least.
