Barb Tadych is the mother of Brendan Dassey and his biggest supporter. She said on Facebook in March 2021 that the police "bullied this kid [Brendan] from day one," referring to the way Manitowoc Police used 'coercive language' to get a confession out of him.
Barb Tadych is campaigning for greater juvenile interrogation protection, so that other young and vulnerable suspects like Brendan aren't coerced into a false confession.
Barb Tadych's family and relationship to Steven Avery
Tadych is the sister of Steven Avery, who is serving life in prison along with her son Brendan.
Tadych still regularly visits Brendan in prison. Her other son, Bobby Dassey, has been linked to the murder of Teresa Halbach thanks to new evidence from Kathleen Zellner, Steven Avery's lawyer.
Brad Dassey, Tadych's step-son, recently spoke out about Tadych allegedly helping to wipe pornography from the family's laptop before it was seized by authorities to be investigated for the Halbach case. Tadych then filed a harassment suit against him, which failed.
Who is Barb Tadych's husband?
Barb has been married to Scott Tadych for only a few years. Before that, Barb was married to Tadych's cousin, Tom Janda. Barb appeared in the Making a Murderer series as Barb Janda and it's not clear when exactly she married Scott, but it's reported it was shortly after her divorce from Tom was finalised.
Did Scott Tadych kill Teresa Halbach?
Scott Tadych is among those who refused to be interviewed in the Making a Murderer documentaries. He did testify in court however, as did Bobby Dassey. Some people suspect he had something to do with the Halbach murder, but that's nothing more than speculation at the moment.
In 2018, Kathleen Zellner accused Scott Tadych of murdering Teresa Halbach on Twitter, as he was one of the people on the family's salvage yard the day Teresa Halbach was murdered.
Tadych has a history of violence and has done time in jail after being found guilty of battery, a misdemeanor charge. But he has never been arrested or charged in the Teresa Halbach case.
