Hunger Games star Jennifer Lawrence has revealed her mother’s brutal verdict of her acting performance, and as only a mother can, she got very candid.
In a sit down with Call Her Daddy’s Alex Cooper, to the podcast host’s question, ‘What is the most brutal piece of acting feedback you have ever gotten in your career?’, Lawrence gave an unexpected, but typically comical response.
“My mom at the premiere of The Hunger Games said she could tell in every scene when I had my period,” she said.

Then she continued, “Water retention, I guess. Imagine a day of me being on camera that doesn’t go through my mind.”
When Cooper reacted by ironically suggesting that the actress was ‘so scarred’ she would never act while on her period again, Lawrence jokingly replied: “I’ll only be able to film for about 20 days.”
Turning to her mother’s role in supporting her career, Lawrence said, “She’s the person I’m so excited to tell exciting news to.”

In an earlier part of the interview, Cooper was asking Lawrence about her early years and whether teenage Lawrence’s friends in Kentucky believed she was moving to New York to pursue her modelling career. Lawrence said:
“They all thought I was lying because I was a prolific liar… In elementary school, I told everyone I had a wooden leg. And when they found out I didn’t…”
Alex asked, “Did you not wear skirts or shorts ever?” and Lawrence replied simply: “No.”

In another of the light-hearted anecdotes from the interview, the actress recalled her first day of filming The Hunger Games she was shooting a scene in a wash basin in an old house in North Carolina when she spotted a fly.
“I saw a fly and I punched it through a window and shattered the window and everyone was like, ‘Why did you do that?’” she said. Asked why, she joked: “I was just like, something moved me.”
She also revealed her friends all call her “Jayla,” and she corrects anyone who gets it wrong: “If somebody accidentally calls me Jen, I’m like, ‘What? Hold on. It’s Jaylaw to you.’”
When Cooper asked for her reality TV tagline, Lawrence said: “My name’s Jennifer and I can’t mind my own business.”
