Sex Education Fans Have Theory Stars Are Dating In Real Life

Sex Education Fans Have Theory Stars Are Dating In Real Life

Could Otis and Ruby be a *real* thing?!

Sex Education fans have come up with a theory that Otis and Ruby are dating IRL - and we've got to be honest, it's pretty compelling...

Yep, the couple that everybody stanned on the Netflix show could actually be an item, according to sleuths who have done some digging on celebs' social media.

It all started after Ruby Matthews actress, Mimi Keene, shared a picture in a buttercup field, cryptically writing: "Do you like butter?".

Mimi arose suspicions with this post (

Then Otis Milburn actor Asa shared his own snap in the same field (or at least, a suspiciously similar looking field...) adorning himself in a necklace made of the yellow flowers.

The link was spotted by Sex Education fan, @espinacaconpure, and the rumour mill has been swirling ever since.

Commenting on Mimi's buttercup snap, viewers of the show were quick to tease the possibility of a romance.

"You mean Asa Butterfield?," wrote one fan cheekily in her mentions.

While another penned: "As in do you like Butterfield?"

"I really hope they are dating," commented someone else.

As a fourth quipped: "Shipping Rotis for real!"

Fans also commented on Asa's Insta, voicing their suspicions.

"You and Mimi in the same field... coincidence?!!!!!!!???", one demanded.

It's not hard to see why people are obsessed with these two, after watching their characters have a sweet and unexpected romance during the last instalment of the Netflix teen drama.

We ultimately saw Otis breaking Ruby's heart by failing to return her love declaration, and instead running back to Maeve (Emma Mackey).

The decision was a controversial one. While fans had been rooting for Maeve and Otis since series one, many thought their time had now passed, and fallen for Ruby's genuine feelings for the show's protagonist, as she let her 'mean girl' facade slip away.

As for whether Mimi and Asa have fared better and are, in fact, an item? We don't have any more concrete proof.

But we'll be keeping a sneaky eye on their socials from now on.

When approached by Tyla, Mimi's representatives gave no comment, while Asa's are yet to respond.
