Old People's Home For 4 Year Olds had viewers in tears on Monday evening, after one man refused to dance with anyone else after losing his wife.

Dunkirk veteran Victor stole the nation's hearts by declining the opportunity to pick a dance partner, as 'nobody could compare to his late wife'.

"I like the music, I like everything else, I like the rhythm but having lost my lifetime partner, my wife, it's difficult to find someone who is going to dance with you," he explained. "They know the steps, but you don't know each other and you don't fit together."

So, the retired photographer the took to the dance floor solo, waltzing around the room on his own.

Victor told viewers about his love story with Marjorie, explaining that he was 23 when he met his future wife.

"She asked me to dance, and the music stopped and everybody said, 'Kiss her!'. It was very nice," he recalled on the Channel 4 show. "It didn't sound romantic, but it was very romantic at the time."

Marjorie and Victor went on to have four girls in the 66 years they were together, before she sadly passed away in 2011.

Victor explained: "She was terrific, she loved music, she loved dancing. That's how we met, and that's how we lived life."

The war veteran had viewers in bits when he explained he was struggling to cope since his wife passed away.

"There's certain times where I miss her a lot," said Victor as he choked back tears.

Viewers rushed to Twitter over the emotional scenes, with one person sharing: "Okay but Victor is dancing alone because he doesn't want to dance with anyone except his wife. I'm gone."

"I hope I can dance like Victor when I'm his age," added another, while a third sobbed: "Victor can't bring himself to dance with anyone since his wife passed. I'm not crying you're crying."

Channel 4's Old People's Home For 4 Year Olds aims to tackle the loneliness epidemic facing an ageing generation, especially for those living on their own.

A group of youngsters relocate to a temporary nursery inside the UK's biggest retirement village. A number of studies have shown it to be beneficial for both age groups when older and younger people spend time together.
