Netflix Drop Details Of New Tiger King Documentary About Doc Antle

Netflix explain: "A lifelong showman, Doc Antle has built his various careers on theatrics, attracting a slew of admirers along the way.

"But beneath the eccentric, animal-loving facade lies a predator far more dangerous than his beloved big cats and a man shadier than any of his Tiger King counterparts.

"Over three episodes, Tiger King: The Doc Antle Story unpacks the truth about Doc, as witnesses come forward to share their troubling stories of abuse and intimidation that set him at the top of the food chain."

When the first Tiger King series was released on Netflix, Antle wasn't too impressed.

He said: “Remember, this is not a documentary. This is a salacious, outrageous ride through a television show produced to create drama, to just tie you in to some crazy train wreck of a story between the feud of Carole Baskin and Joe Exotic, and the meltdown that ensued between two people who both are far too close to murder themselves, and I think a little bit of madness thrown in on their parts.”

He also added: "It was all about how the tigers that we have here have raised so much money that we’ve been able to go to Sumatra and create a new ranger station there … and that was the documentary that I worked on, and all of that stuff somehow found its way to the cutting room floor."

Last year, Antle was charged with two felonies relating to wildlife trafficking and 13 additional misdemeanours relating to the Endangered Species Act and animal cruelty.

The indictments came about after investigations by the Animal Law Unit found lion cubs had allegedly been trafficked between Virginia and South Carolina.

Tiger King: The Doc Antle Story arrives on Netflix on 10th December.
