And Just Like That has broke the internet once again, after announcing yesterday that Carrie Bradshaw’s love interest Aidan Shaw will return to the series.

The Sex and The City reboot shared screeshots from the highly anticipated second season on social media, which showed the characters sharing a passionate kiss in New York City.

However, not all fans were thrilled.

For those not in the know, Carrie dated the furniture designer, played by John Corbett, in the third season of SATC with the pair being the polar opposites of each other.

However, Sarah Jessica Parker’s fashion obsessed journalist just couldn’t move on from her first love Big, who was portrayed by actor Chris North.

It resulted in the infamous cheating scene, with Carrie and Aidan splitting shortly after this in season four.

Whilst Carrie did eventually marry Big, her and Aidan did kiss during Sex and City 2 – which is a moment most fans want to forget.

After devastating fans with the sudden death of Big in season one of And Just Like That, Aidan now looks set to become Carrie’s new long-term love interest.

Taking to Twitter to vent their anger, one wrote: "This just makes me angry honestly Want her with someone new!"

One even accused the show of ‘sloppy and poor writing’, arguing that Carrie would still be grieving the loss of Big.

“This is such a disservice to Carrie’s character and SUCH sloppy and poor writing,” they vented in a lengthy comment.

“You’re telling me she went through alllll the SATC drama with Big, 10 years of dating him, to then get jilted by him and then reconcile and actually he wasn’t the one after all? B*****t.”

“The minute Big is dead you’ve got Aidan sniffing around like a basset hound. Where’s the Respect.” they added.

Carrie was the centre of a love triangle between Big and Aiden.

Another viewer argued that Aidan’s character deserves a peaceful life after being cheated on in early episodes, writing: “I can’t believe they broke up Aidan’s happy life for season 2 of and just like that.”

But not everyone agreed though.

Comparing Carrie and Aidan's romance to A Listers Jennifer Lopez and Ben Affleck, one fan of the pairing wrote: “…and just like that their bennifer era is going well and they’re IN LOVE your honor”

Others quickly joined in, adding: “I’m so nervous And Just Like That is toying with us about Carrie and Aidan. Because like… I want it. I don’t care that she don’t deserve him. I want it.”

While another wrote: "It’s like a dream come true."

Aidan’s return has come as a complete surprise to fans, especially after writer Julie Rottenberg and executive producer Michael Patrick King publicly dragged Corbett for hinting that he’d appear in season one of And Just Like That.

Rottenberg told Deadline: “John Corbett should be writing personal apology notes. We didn’t say anything.”

For better or for worse, Aidan will be appearing in season 2 of the show – which will air later this year.
