The countdown to Easter is officially on and chocolate and confectionary companies have already started to sell their Easter egg-inspired products.

And Kinder has answered our prayers with the launch of its new Mini Eggs pouch, containing dozens of delicious milk chocolate-covered eggs with a tasty milky hazelnut centre. Yum!

The mini Kinder eggs, now available in Sainsbury's, are inspired by the iconic Kinder Surprise egg that defined our childhood. The best part is it also features a toy in the middle, held in a little yellow plastic case.

Last year, fans were shocked to discover that the yellow plastic case resembles a real egg's yolk.

While the chocolate represents the shell, the creamy inner layer resembles the white and the yellow toy, the yolk.

Unfortunately, there are no surprise toys in the mini eggs but they're sure to be just as scrumptious.

If you're looking for more mini egg themed Easter treats right now, Cadbury is offering a Mini Eggs Easter egg which is made from a delicious shell of Cadbury Dairy Milk chocolate and a bag of their classic mini eggs too.

Food blogger Helen J Tea gave her Instagram followers a sneak peek of the egg. She described it as being "twice the size" of the previous Mini Eggs Easter egg.

She said: "This didn't have quite as many mini egg inclusions as the one I remember from a few years ago but this is probably twice this size! Been eyeing this up for days since I bought it from @tescofood so happy to finally be able to manage some of it".

And if you want a cheeky Easter snack, M&S is offering an aubergine (or eggplant) shaped Easter egg for £6.

We all know that the aubergine now has a double meaning thanks to the aubergine emoji and social media, and M&S are keen to give the Easter egg a fresh twist.

The retailer announced the news on Instagram last month. "Stop scrolling: our 'Egg-Plant Kitchen' vegan Easter egg is here to brighten up your January in all its aubergine-shaped glory," they said.

"You can thank us later. Pick it up in store now!" M&S wrote, alongside an image of the plant-based delight.

The egg features thick, dairy free chocolate, crafted into a cheeky aubergine shape.

"Emojis at the ready!" M&S added. "Our debut vegan Easter egg in the Plant Kitchen range, has been cheekily shaped like an 'egg plant' (ok, an aubergine!) See what we did there?"

There are so many chocolatey Easter nibbles to choose from... and it's only February!

The Kinder Mini Eggs are available now from Sainsbury's for £1.
