Woman won't stay in hostels with 'older women' because they're 'so disrespectful'

"I will not be the same person when I return from this holiday"

A traveller has hit out at 'older women' in hostels for being 'so disrespectful', admitting the whole thing has made her 'ageist'.

Aussie globe-trotter, Lucy Holz, took to Instagram yesterday (9 August) to share her latest antics with her 'euro summer', and it's sparked quite the debate online.

Lucy shared with her 11.8k followers a particularly grating incident she had with a fellow hostel traveller and how it made her 'ageist'. Check it out:

The woman captioned the two-minute-long clip: "3 and a half months into my euro summer and I am fading fast."

She began the story time video with: "I really hate to have to say this, but I do. Staying in hostels is making me ageist."

Lucy explained she's been staying in 'a lot of hostels lately' and has made an effort to specifically select female-only hostels.

"The main reason I selected them is other girls were telling me you should always pick the female hostel, not just for safety, but also for snoring because women don't tend to snore as much as men do," she went on.

Lucy also stated that she doesn't 'sleep very easily' and that snoring 'really affects her'.

She continued: "While women may not snore as much, in general, I'll tell you who does snore - old women.

The Aussie said 'old women' snore in the hostels she's stayed at.

"It's gotten to the point where I see an older woman walking into my dorm room, and I'm like, 'Oh, my God, why are you here?'"

And snoring isn't the only issue as Lucy went on to claim.

"They also just, as a whole, are so disrespectful of other people in the dorm," she continued.

She then recounted a story from a 'horrific hostel' the previous night when a 'middle-aged lady' rocked up to the room.

At around 'quarter-past midnight', the lady then 'goes to have a shower' in the en-suite bathrooms.

"That's fine," Lucy declared, "whatever."

Lucy revealed she is 'just not built for the hostel life'.

The lady then blow dries her hair at 'half-past midnight' which ends up waking 'literally everybody up'.

"Like why?" Lucy went on, "I just I was like, 'Oh, why are you proving my prejudice, right!'"

Oh and it didn't stop there.

The middle-aged hostel-goer, who Lucy said was 'one of these women who just feels the need to vocalise everything they do', bangs her head and swears.

"Like, girl! You're in a shared space!" she added.

"And, of course," Lucy finished up, "she f*cking snores."

The Aussie concluded the video declaring she was 'just not built for the hostel life' before adding: "It's tarnishing my view of middle-aged women.

"I will not be the same person when I return from this holiday."

Yikes.
