Passenger on ‘spicy cruise’ reveals what it’s really like swapping partners onboard

Kate opened up on exactly what happens on the cruise

A passenger who set sail on a 'spicy cruise' has revealed what really goes down onboard the adults-only holiday.

In case you're not aware, a 'spicy cruise' is somewhat different to your usual cruise ship holiday.

While cruises in general are becoming increasingly popular among all kinds of different holidaymakers, spicy cruises are generally aimed at couples hoping to meet other couples.

Essentially, there's a pretty big focus on swinging - although this isn't mandatory at all - which is where couples have sexual experiences with other like-minded couples.

One company offering these types of holidays is Temptation Cruises, which offers 'playrooms', 'clothing-optional' areas and workshops run by experts to help people 'enhance their intimate experience'.

You're then free to explore your sexuality by hooking up with someone else, or swing with other couples.

Intimacy coach and hypnotherapist Kate Shelor has taken to social media to reveal what it's like going on these types of cruises.

"I've been getting a lot of comments about the cruise that I'm on, the Temptation adults only cruise, where people are sort of like - 'just admit its a swingers cruise'," Kate says.

"I'm not being coy. I talk about swinging all the time, so I'm not trying to be funny about it. It's just not specifically a swingers event.

"There's maybe 50/50 on the ship, maybe about half or so. But it's also just like an adult, sexy atmosphere.

"So there's plenty of people on board who are just enjoying their time with their partner because there's places you could be topless. There's fun workshops. There's crazy games."

Kate explained that while there are swingers onboard, it's not a swingers-only event and you don't have to be part of the swinging community to take part.

"It's a mix and it is not billed as a swingers event but it does attract people who are in the lifestyle because it's there, you can be topless and it's sexy and it's adults only and it's a very open atmosphere here," she added.

"So that's why it attracts swingers but it also attracts people that are not and it just kind of want a happy sexy vacation with adults where they can be a little bit free, a little bit wild, and go dancing and dress up in costumes sometimes.

"And, you know, because sometimes that's good for your relationship."

And in case you were wondering about onboard etiquette, there are a series of strict rules.

The Temptation Cruises website states:

  • Upper bikini garments are optional at all pools, sun decks, and designated events.
  • The couples-only Desire Miches Resort Hotspot is the only onboard space that is 100% 'au naturel'.
  • ‘Appropriate attire’ must be worn in all other public areas, including dining facilities.
  • Some guests may want to keep their identities private - because of this, guests are asked that when taking photos and/or video, you only do selfies and close-ups for personal use with no wide angles.
  • Treat other ‘temptationers’ with the utmost respect.
  • The use of drugs is not allowed.
  • Keep noise to a minimum after midnight.
  • All staff members, original affiliates, brand representatives, and any person in a commercial relationship with Temptation are strictly forbidden to interact intimately or drink with guests otherwise face termination or immediate dismissal.
  • Explicit activities are not allowed in any of the public areas.
  • The resort is not responsible for lost items left outside of the safety deposit box located in your room.
