Revealed: How much you should spend on your partner this Christmas

Revealed: How much you should spend on your partner this Christmas

Some of the newly-revealed statistics are wild.

A new report has revealed how much money people spend on their partner at Christmas - and the results are pretty mind-blowing.

The festive season is in full swing, despite December still being on the horizon.

Supermarkets such as Aldi and ASDA have already dropped their holiday adverts, while M&S has released a special Colin the Caterpillar cake wearing a Christmas jumper.

While dreaming about a feast is a great way to spend your time, you may also be wondering what goodies to purchase for your friends, family, and significant other this year.

A new survey, orchestrated by CouponBirds, has revealed just how much cash people are splashing on their partners.

After combining the answers of 2,000 study participants, the discount-finding company has come out with some shocking statistics.

The first is that women tend to spend less on their significant other than men, with the average being £125.77 per partner.

Lads on the other hand are more likely to flash the cash and drop a whopping £178.81.

Results claim that younger people are also the least likely to fork out to treat their companion.

The company states that 18-24-year-olds average a Christmas spend of £105.22.

However, those aged 35-44 are on the other end of the spectrum.

The survey finds that this age group are likely to spend £165.71 on each other this Yuletide.

But what about our average shopper?

Well, research states that if you have a partner, you’re likely to spend a stunning £144.37 on presents.

Luckily, not everyone is looking to become a big spender this festive season.

The results conclude that only two percent of people across all age groups are prepared to spend over £400 on their S.O.

Of course, holiday gift-giving doesn’t have to break the bank, and maybe shoppers aren’t expecting their partners to either.

The survey found that consumers expect their better halves to spend around £10 less than they are willing to dish out themselves.

Therefore, your partner expects you to spend around £137.66 on them.

Martin Lewis recently revealed the best time to buy Christmas veg.

If you’re looking to save some cash this Christmas then Martin Lewis has detailed exactly when you can expect stores to reduce their Christmas stock.

During a recent episode of ITV’s The Martin Lewis Money Show, the 51-year-old gave pointers on reducing your spending on your holiday dinner.

He explained: “Christmas veg is likely to be reduced around Monday 12 December.

“I suspect there will be big Christmas veg deals coming when we get to that time of year.”

Lewis added that Lidl has previously offered shoppers a £10 off £40 voucher, and expects the grocery store to do the same again this year.

“The date has moved slightly on this one, so if you’re looking to shop in Lidl, keep your eye out.”
