Mum books hotel room for the weekend so she can wrap Christmas presents in peace

An interesting strategy indeed

Any parents will know the absolute chaos when it comes to wrapping Christmas presents.

From the worry of your little ones stumbling in and catching a sneak peek of their gifts before the big day to the sheer faff of getting sellotape, ribbons and bows absolutely everywhere.

Let's just say wrapping gifts is far from a walk in the park.

So, to remedy this age-old dilemma, one mum took it upon herself to book a hotel room for the weekend so she could wrap Christmas presents in peace. Have a look:

The woman, who goes by the handle @mckelligan online, took to TikTok to share her experience.

Ready to go in her 'Santa Baby' Christmas jumper and fuelled by a Starbucks festive drink, the video showed the mum get to work in her hotel wrapping station totally undisturbed while watching the telly.

She could then recline in peace once all the prezzies were sorted and finish off the evening with a packet of crisps and a well-deserved drink.

The mum then simply bagged everything up and voilà!

The wrapping station in question.

She captioned the short clip: "Second annual wrapping weekend! Booked a hotel for two nights, wrapped all gifts, order takeout, watch tons of TV, and no one asked me for anything!"

The TikTok has since gone viral after clocking up more than 2.8 million views on the platform, with hundreds upon hundreds of comments from people eager to share their reactions to the mum's Crimbo prep routine.

Some were concerned about the logistics of the situation with many querying whether it would end up being more faff than it was actually worth.

Looks like a pretty good idea that.

"Is it worth hauling it all up to the room and back!?" hit out one TikTok user.

A second added: "But you had to cart all those gifts up. I'm too lazy!"

"I feel like it’d be easier to just kick my family out of the house for two days, because lugging those gifts up and down..." pointed out a third.

Another echoed: "Nah send the family to the hotel then you don’t have to lug that all around and you can still order take out between wrapping lol."

That's a wrap.

Many people, however, were beyond impressed with the idea with one TikTok user writing: "Everyone complaining about it lugging gifts. I’d be at home doing every single thing but wrapping. That’s why I get the hotel idea!! Love it!!"

"This is the greatest thing I’ve ever seen!! You’re a genius," penned a second.

A fellow mum commented: "Wait a min… so we’re not hiding in our -0 degrees garage wrapping at 1am anymore? Noted."

"This is the most epic thing ever!!!!" praised a fourth.

A final TikTok user gushed: "Dream weekend honestly."

What do you make of it?
