People are convinced that we could be seeing a huge baby boom this month - and it’s all thanks to a very specific TV show episode that aired last September.
If you’re a fan of The Summer I Turned Pretty, you might have an idea of what I’m talking about.
The beloved Prime Video series starring Lola Tung, Christopher Briney, and Gavin Casalegno, came to a dramatic end on September 17 last year, when we saw Gen Z’s love triangle of the century finally conclude.
It saw the main character, Isabel - or Belly - Conklin, finally choose between Conrad and Jeremiah Fisher, a pair of brothers she's grown up and spent summers with her whole life, being romantically involved with both at different times.

The exciting finale was followed up with the announcement of a The Summer I Turned Pretty movie, which will serve as the ultimate conclusion to the story.
And it’s time to get excited as production officially kicked off this month - although there’s no official release date yet, there’s speculation that it could premiere on the streaming platform in 2027.

But, if you cast your mind back to the final episode, we saw quite the steamy scene between Belly and Conrad when they finally confessed their love for each other, which left people joking that it could lead to, ahem, a baby boom nine months later.
One fan of the show has rushed to Instagram to share a video of themself watching the iconic moment, alongside the caption: "Labour and delivery nurses everywhere realising there's going to be a baby boom in June 2026."
In the comments, someone asked: "Wait.. what did I miss? Why a baby boom," to which another fan joked: "All the wives feeling *inspired* after watching that scene."
And that’s not all, it looks like the names of the main characters, Belly Conrad and Jeremiah, are also on the rise, and with the movie being in the works, this could also convince loads more parents to use the monikers for their babies.
Fans penned: "And they’re all gonna be named Isabel or Conrad," while someone else joked: "Isabel and Conrad will definitely be hitting baby charts next year! Maybe Connie too (for a girl!). All the main cast actors’ names too."
It comes after data revealed the most popular baby names of 2025, with Isabel up 17 spots for girls to number 187, so it looks like it’s already happening.
And what’s more, is that bizarrely, rumours of a June 2026 baby boom have been ongoing for some time now, despite the average number of children people are having falling, as per The Guardian.
The London School of Economics and Political Science outlined that in 1950, the global average was around five live births per woman.
Today, that number has more than halved to 2.2, and in England and Wales, it’s closer to 1.4.
