People are convinced that an iconic cultural moment that took place recently could lead to a huge baby boom in June next year - and it actually makes perfect sense.

But first, for those unfamiliar with the term, a 'baby boom' is simply a period where there is a significant increase in the birth rate within a population.

The phenomenon is often triggered by something - for example, all of the November babies, sorry to break it to you, but you were probably conceived as a result of a hot and steamy Valentine's Day.

Meanwhile, studies have revealed that September is the most popular birth month in both the UK and the US, with the highest rate of conception in December.

I mean, as we've seen in many festive rom-coms, they do say Christmas is the most romantic season!

But this time, people are predicting quite a specific trigger that's all to do with a TV show. And if you're a fan of The Summer I Turned Pretty, you already know what I'm talking about.

On Wednesday (17 September) the beloved series, based on books by Jenny Han, came to an end with a dramatic finale on Prime Video.

It saw the main character, Isabel - or Belly - Conklin, finally choose between Conrad and Jeremiah Fisher - a pair of brothers she's grown up with her whole life, being romantically involved with both at different times.

Whether you're Team Conrad or Team Jeremiah, the love triangle has kept viewers on their toes for three whole seasons.

And in the dreamy Paris-set finale, Belly (Lola Tung) finally makes the all-important decision and rides off into the sunset with fan-favourite Conrad, played by Christopher Briney.

With the big moment came a very steamy X-rated scene where the two characters finally profess their love for each other and head up to Belly's apartment - you can imagine what happens next.

One fan of the show has rushed to Instagram to share a video of themself watching the iconic scene, alongside the caption: "Labour and delivery nurses everywhere realising there's going to be a baby boom in June 2026."

In the comments, someone questioned: "Wait.. what did i miss? Why a baby boom," to which another fan replied: "All the wives feeling *inspired* after watching that scene."

"Thought the same after watching that scene," added someone else, alongside some laughing emojis.

People are so obsessed with the show that they even think the monikers Isabel and Conrad could rise up on the baby name charts.

"And they’re all gonna be named Isabel or Conrad," someone else joked in the comments.

While a second user penned: "Isabel and Conrad will definitely be hitting baby charts next year! Maybe Connie too (for a girl!). All the main cast actors’ names too."

And another agreed: "Isabel will be a hit name again."

Meanwhile, other fans of the show chimed in with: "Conrad the name for 2026 boys" and "Connie babies!!!!"
