It's that time again - Taylor Swift has released a new album, and Swifties are rushing to decode her lyrics.
The 35-year-old music sensation dropped her highly anticipated 12th studio album The Life Of A Showgirl today (Friday 3rd October), featuring 12 songs.
From a supposed diss track to sweet lyrics about her romance with fiancé and NFL star Travis Kelce, the pop album pulls back the curtain on her life behind the scenes during The Eras Tour.
The album was made with Swedish duo Max Martin and Shellback - the producers she worked with in 2017 for Reputation and 1989 - moving away from her recent acoustic sound.

And as Swifties are sinking their teeth (ears?) into the new music, a number of theories and Easter eggs are popping up, with one lyric in particular leaving people shocked.
It comes from the song 'Actually Romantic', which the internet is convinced takes aim at Charli XCX.
It opens with the lyrics: "I heard you call me ‘Boring Barbie’ when the coke’s got you brave / High-fived my ex and then said you’re glad he ghosted me / Wrote me a song saying it makes you sick to see my face."

And fans think it's directly in response to Charli's 2024 'Brat' track 'Sympathy is a Knife,' where the 'Apple' hitmaker sings: "Don’t wanna see her backstage at my boyfriend’s show / Fingers crossed behind my back / I hope they break up real quick”.
For those who aren't up to date on the lore, Charli's husband is The 1975's drummer, George Daniel, and Taylor dated the band's frontman Matty Healy for a few months back in 2023.
But, the lyric that's left most people stunned is actually nothing to do with the supposed beef between the two singers, and is actually the line about Matty 'ghosting' her. It even happens to the likes of Taylor Swift, so don't be too hard on yourself.
As we say, the pair had a short relationship of sorts in June of 2023, and seemed to come to an abrupt end, with the singer referencing their fling in her last album, The Tortured Poets Department.

And as eagle-eyed (eared?) fans have pointed out, if the 'ex' referenced in Tay's new song is Matty, it means we finally know how their romance ended - and it sounds brutal.
Reacting to the line on Twitter, one fan wrote: "Imagine admitting that Matty Healy ghosted you... some things we take to the grave with us."
While a second added: "Matty Healy you were a coward for ghosting Taylor omg WHAT COULD HAVE BEEEEEEN."

And a third wrote: "LMFAO the concept of Matty Healy ghosting Taylor Swift."
"I personally would not have admitted that Matty Healy ghosted me," joked another.
While a fifth chimed in with: "Craziest part of the song is Taylor admitting she got ghosted by Matty Healy bc you couldn’t waterboard that out of me lmao."
"So Matty Healy ghosted Taylor. this genre of men..." penned someone else.

And it's actually not the first time Taylor has alluded to the ghosting, as another lyric from The Tortured Poets Department also hinted at it.
In her song cheekily titled 'The Smallest Man Who Ever Lived', which is thought to be about Matty, she sings: “You tried to buy some pills from a friend of friends of mine / They just ghosted you, now you know what it feels like.”
Following this insight, Matty Healy might just feel the wrath of the Swifties very soon.
