Taylor Swift's new album Life Of A Showgirl only came out today (3 October), but fans are already picking apart all of the meanings and hidden messages.
Not only have they spotted what they think is a 'nasty' dig at Charli XCX, plus a reference to The 1975's Matty Healy, but now they think there's some 'brutal shade' being thrown at fiancé Travis Kelce's ex, Kayla Nicole.
Theories and rumours have taken over social media as Swifties everywhere pore over the lyrics and the many radio interviews Taylor has been doing alongside them.
They love the dark meanings behind 'The Fate Of Ophelia', her duet with Sabrina Carpenter for the title track, but have been left shocked by the decidedly NSFW lyrics of 'Wood'.

The latter features risqué lyrics like "New Heights of manhood / I ain't gonna knock on wood."

Now, fans have noticed something else after they've recovered from the shock of first hearing a ruder side to Taylor.
In the lyrics to 'Opalite', many Swifties think there's a line which is a dig at Kayla Nicole, a sports broadcast reporter who dated Travis on-and-off from 2017 until 2022.

Kayla and Travis first got together after he apparently slid into her DMs.
The lyrics in question say: "You couldn’t understand it, why you felt alone / You were in it for real, she was in her phone / And you were just a pose.” Ouch!
One fan wrote: "TAYLOR SWIFT JUST CALLED KAYLA NICOLE TF OUT IM LIVING FOR TS12" while another added: "Opalite- sweet song and the Kayla digs are savage.”

"Travis' ex is gonna be p***** off by Opalite, but it'll be funny because the worst Taylor actually said is that she has a phone addiction and that Travis felt like an accessory instead of a partner," mused another.
This fan exclaimed: "WAIT DID TAYLOR JUST DISS TRAVIS EX ON OPALITE??????" while another joked: "Taylor hates Travis’s ex and I’m here for it."
"Taylor whacking Travis’ ex was not on my bingo card," said someone else, while one agreed: "The Kayla Nicole shade sent me, I know Taylor is tired of her ass always talking about him."
And this Swiftie insisted: "Kayla Nicole should feel honoured to be referenced in a Taylor Swift song tbh."

The examinations of the lyrics can only continue, and there will probably be more references and easter eggs to come upon further listens.
