The world has gone crazy for Erling Haaland thanks to the 2026 World Cup but one of the Norwegian striker’s biggest fans is Spider-Man himself.
Tom Holland revealed that even Hollywood stars get ghosted sometimes and he himself experienced a ‘humbling’ moment after texting Haaland.
The actor, who tied the knot with Zendaya months ago, spilled the details during a recent chat with US talk show host Jimmy Kimmel, where he revealed what happened when he slid into Haaland’s DMs.
Holland said he messaged the Norway player after spotting him at a hospitality suite at the Monaco Grand Prix.

“That is the exact type of humbling experience that is important for actors. Like, ‘I’ll text him. I’ll take him for dinner’. Not even a response. Not an excuse, not I’m busy tonight, I’m playing football’. Nada.
He added: “And I just thought I’d shoot my shot, sent him a text. I never imagined I’d talk about it on live television but here we are!”
When Kimmel asked whether the dinner invite was still on the table, Holland replied by making a cheeky reference to England’s World Cup quarter-final win over Norway: “I don’t think he’d have dinner with me after the other day.”
This isn’t the first time we’ve heard about the dinner that never happened. Haaland shared his side of the story during a chat on the Norwegian version of The Assembly.

Shockingly, it sounds like Haaland has no idea who Holland is. “This is a bit embarrassing, to be completely honest,” he confessed. “We were in Monaco at the Formula 1, and then I got a message. I don’t watch movies much, so I have no idea who people are.
“There was one asking if we could go out for dinner, but I’d never seen him, so I didn’t bother to answer. I didn’t want to answer an unknown person.”
Haaland, who plays for Manchester City, has become one of the biggest phenomena of the World Cup, partly because he helped Norway reach the championship for the first time in 28 years. Americans are also now obsessed with him as he discovers US culture and there's been increased fascination for his fashion and attitude. The 25-year-old achieved seven goals for this country.
The athlete appeared to enjoy his time in the US, immersing himself in American culture during his time off the pitch.
In a video posted to his YouTube channel, Haaland documented his shopping trip in Texas, picking up a cowboy hat, a pair of cowboy boots, and a "You Can Kiss My Dallas" t-shirt.
